2008 Mk5 R32 needs DSG service and temperature must be 35 C for correct fluid level, I read the car can't be running while using OBDeleven, how can I check the temperature to ensure proper fluid level in the transmission, should I unplug the unit before starting the engine then shut it off, plug in the unit and check the temperature and unplug it again if it's too low?, thanks.
The car should be running to warm the DSG and circulate the fluid using the pump. When you reach 35*C, you then put in and tighten the outer bung as the excess fluid would come through the plastic inner snorkel piece at this time, this maintaining the correct level for the transmission. It is important that the car is jacked up level during this process
I just use the OBD 11 from ECS tuning. Even though ECS said it would not be capable of pulling up the transmission DSG temperature in real time it is actually capable of the doing task. What’s the OBD 11 is synced with your car are you have to do is start your car click connect on the device and simply go to transmission and then select channel 19 and you’ll see your DSG transmission fluid temperature. I also enjoyed using the Schwab and DSG/6 speed automatic transmission serviced all that uses pneumatic pressure to push the fluid into a DSG transmission reservoir. I would also recommend using the psi regulator to set the air pressure to 10 to 20 PSI as anything more than that seems to be too much for the system to handle. I was pretty nervous about doing this process myself but after using this system I feel quite confident it is a easy task for most DIYers with mechanical experience to do. Best regards

testeronline: majestic12 I would suggest you let VW/AUDI Know as this is there software. Just as an aside what car do you have as I did not think the virtual screens supported this so just trying to increase my knowledge

dv52 (Australia): testeronline: needle sweep can be enabled on some AID displays. In majestic12's case, I suspect the facility is getting delayed because of all of the other start-up activities that happen on ignition switch-on (but I'm guessing)

audia4b8: Hi, I have the same problem, did you manage to solve it? I have been struggling with this for a month and I also have no way of changing it as they write above. It is not possible to change 0 - 1 and vice versa. Through the application and points also does

majestic12: Yea i though so it would be the processes that are starting up when turning on the ignition, maybe they can fix it by doing needle sweep when turning the engine on. Would be cooler to me when starting the engine you see the needle sweep

testeronline: vwjap, I just checked on the Leon Forums and currently V1 and V2 of the dash does not support needle sweep, however it looks like v3 (as fitted in the Atteca) does. Lucky I have the old dials and they do support it (not that I ever look at it )
