I am looking for the same info for my MK6 Golf R. I don't think the mk7 has the same long code.

I was looking for the same. As I have found out, it is byte 18 in the central electric module. Unfortunately this is a hidden list and always comes up 00. You can change the setting here but you are shooting in the dark with what you are getting to happen. What I have also found is that there is a thing called VAG CAN PRO or VCP much like VCDS and OBDeleven, But it allows you to read and write EEPROM data. Through this program and with VagHelper you can save the file and open it with VCP and it will allow you to change the coding for the lighting specifically and then re-write the eeprom. MK6 VW use the PQ35/PQ46 platform where the MK7 uses MQB which allows specific light coding possible. Mind you this information was found on a German website and I had to Translate the page.
jThe problem with just going through all the possible combos in Byte 18 and changing them is that you do not know what your original coding was so trying to revert this portion of the code is next to impossible and you could be stuck for months trying to figure the code out again. Although I did play with it a little and i found the selection of bits to check to get the description to show Volkswagen Golf NAR, Also Volkwagen Golf ROW, Jetta ROW, Jetta NAR and a SKODA wagon. All that being said it still makes me nervous to mess with cause I have not found any info on what coding to try and use let alone the coding that would work to set it back to stock. there is an option to reset as well. Guess this is something that will have to be Experimented with.
Also each car can have a different EEPROM version with Varying results with the same checked boxes from one car to the next. all we can do is find what works and share that info with the info for that controller then others with the same info can try that coding. I'll be keeping an EYE on this thread. Good Luck to anyone that is trying to figure this out.

I have found how to get my 2011 GTi to have 5 brake lights. I am currently using the Chinese Passat coding that is stored in OBDeleven program. Only hiccup is the right hand turn signal. Thinks it has an out light. Left turn signal is absolutely fine. Does anyone know if there is a way to calibrate the module to learn the new resistance of the lighting circuits? Production mode maybe? I have changed lights in the past and had issues. Changed all the lights on the circuit with Brand New OEM VW parts and still had the issue.

How did you code the 5 brake lights?
