Below is froma Vag com forum. Trying to do on Obdeleven. Can anyone get me started. Not sure what 36 is?
.............
Enable Drivers Memory Seat
36: Seat Mem - 07 Coding - Long Coding Helper - change Byte 2, bit 0, to 1
Seat memory will be there however greyed out in MMI
Press and hold down unlock button on key fob for 5 seconds for the windows to come down
Press and hold down lock button on key fob for 5 seconds for the windows to go back up
In MMI, Seat Adjustment you are now able to find Driver's seat, you can set Key memory on/off. Set it "on" for both keys separately.

I'll try to help you Before you try this please do a backup! Follow these steps: 1) Go to Control unit 36 which is Seat memory 2) Select long coding 3) Go to Byte 02 4) Activate Bit 0 That was the coding now you have to get into the hidden mmi menu. Once you are in there follow these steps: 1) Hidden menu -> car -> cardevicelist 2) Activate Front seat memory 3) Activate Rear seat memory 4) Hidden menu -> car -> carmenuoperation 5) Set seat to 1 After all these steps the last thing you have to do is reset your mmi. To do that follow these steps: Press and hold the Setup, confirm and navigation button simultaneously. The MMI then shuts down and restarts. Takes about 60 seconds. Source with pictures

Thanks for the info. The only thing is that I don't have a Control module #36 come up. I have 21 different module but nothing that says seats

That's strange. You need to have that unit in order to enable drivers seat memory.

So then are control modules something one can enable or is it the case that it's not available on this model.
I know that memory seats usually have buttons but it made it sound like the elctronics are in place for cars that didn't come with that option

I don't really know. You could try this. Maybe adding the unit manually helps to fix the issue.
