As far as I know it is not possible. Perhaps you can check the mileage of other devices (gear box etc.) and compare it ...

... or even better - look at the VW History. A dealer can help with Vehicle-Number and his computer-listings.
Be careful - this is officially not allowed for the dealer to hand you out that information. But he will tell you if you ask kindly ...

VCDS appears to do it by polling both the odometer and DSG (if you have one).
The DSG has mileage information stored and should match your odometer if nothing has been tampered with.
I changed my DSG last weekend, so my 2 readings are now different.
I'd suggest you trust what your odometer says because to maliciously swap the odometer for a lower mileage one would require swapping over the ECU, immobilizer, and key-barrell with the key as well (then there is the dealer-level re-coding involved to complete the swap to fix the VIN to match the car). I doubt anyone would go through all that for fraud. What your odometer shows, is your best bet, unless you got a car with an aftermarket flash that has the immobilizer disabled (so the swapping can happen).
