You need front camera(STG A5) and good to have GPS. Without GPS you have message that traffic sign assist is restricted.

Hi, I have an Alltrack 7-2019 without navigation and the following procedure is working. Note that without navigation, the camera will fully rely on what it sees. If no limit-end appearing, than it will stuck on what he saw last time until the next sign - navidagtion is here pro active and adjust according to position.
Traffic Sign Recognition (Model before 2019)
Note: Without navigation system, know road speed limitations are not implemented
1. 5F Module
1. Security Access – Access Code 20103
2. Adaptations
3. Car_Functions_List_BAP_Gen2
4. traffic_sign_recognition_0x21
Change from “not activated” to “activated”
5. Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2
6. menu_display_road_sign_identification
Change from “not activated” to “activated”
7. menu_display_road_sign_identification over threshold
Change from “disabled” to “enabled”
6. Long Coding
7. Byte 24: activate Bit 6 (or 7 after 2019?)
2. 13 Module (after 2019 ?)
1. Long Coding – text
2. Traffic sign detection - Activate
3. 17 Module
1. Long Coding – num.
2. Byte 5: activate bit 3
4. A5 Module
1. Adaptations
2. Road sign detection fusion mode
Change from “Road Sign Fusion” to “Road Sign Detection”
3. Long Coding
4. Byte 1 - Bit 1 -> enabled
5. Byte 16 Bit 05 ->Activate (coded ?)
5. Reboot the infotainment system by Pressing the power button for 10 sec.
6. An additional line is now available in your AID menu to display road signs in the centre screen

Waaah. 3Q0 Cameras (applies to all B8 Passats): Do not enable Byte1 Bit 1! The first for bytes are determining the cars type and do not have anything to do with features.
So for Passat Variant / Estate the first four bytes are 00 04 08 02 while Limo is 00 04 08 01
Further: Why should somebody disable Road Sign Fusion? This merges the detected signs with signs incorporated in the map. This is the way this whole thing is designed to work and the reason why VW is selling TSR with navigation only. Without the help from the map, TSR really sucks, as turns are not detected, city limits are mostly not detected and so on.
Also: After coding there should be only one error regarding missing calibration left. When this is the case, you have to drive to a dealer/workshop to calibrate your camera. You will have to solve all other errors before, otherwise the camera will not be ready for calibration.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. Question, I replaced my RNS310 with a RCD330 pro (noname). Since I lost the navigation for the convenience of Car Play, I have also lost Sign Assist. If I use your instructions then at least I will have the camera info for sign assist? I understand that it is not as accurate but at least it is something. Or, is there a different head unit to get that has Nav and Carplay that is affordable or easy? I have found no solutions other then the RCD330. I do prefer the carplay to the nav, but would love both just for the sign assist.
Thanks for any insight you can give.

Have followed that coding instructions but still got that restriction error. A5 camera reads signs and shows them in dash and in mib2 (discover media). Fusion mode doesn't work, it's set on fusion but navi won't show any signs before camera reads one on the roadside. Can anyone help where to go next? Thank you

Well it worked for me . Probable you a missing something. I recomend to made the coding again and check well. Or try this one, is the same. Traffic Sign Assist Activation Control unit A5 (front / advance camera) Security access Access Code 20103 Control unit Long Coding Byte 1 Bit 0 Activate - "01 Traffic Sign Recognition (FTE) active" Select Control unit 5F (Information Electrical) Adaptation Select channel (63) vehicle function list BAP traffic_sign_recognition_0x21 Value = Active Select channel (151) vehicle menu operation-menu_display_road_sign_identification Value = Active Select channel (153) vehicle menu operation-menu_display_road_sign_identification_over_threshold_high Value = Active Select Control unit 17 (Dashboard) Control unit Long Coding Byte 5 Bit 2 Aktivate Adaptation Select: channel numbers indicate end of speed limit Importance to actively invest Show Valid suffix View Channel Valid suffix Corresponding value adjust default: 00100111

Find out what i was missing and couldn't find this info on any guides. Maybe it's different also depending on country you are in 🤔
5F: PSD mode activation A5: PSD 1.5 13: Traffic sign detection to activated
Now the system works with A5 fusion mode without errors. First shows the speed limit based on map data and if camera sees some different limit, it will change to that.

You are right, but I think was just 13 ACC Long coding Byte 01:Bit 00 Traffic sign detection.
In models after 2018 is not necesary anymore, comes deactivated by factory with sign Assist.
The Others here in Europe we have it by Default.

Hi, When you said A5 fusion mode, is that's you change the parameter to “Road Sign Fusion” to “Road Sign Detection”, or you left it Road Sign Fusion? Thanks
