Hello there,
So I'm trying to remove the NAR lighting restriction on my 2016 GTI and it doesn't seem to be quite as easy to carry over instructions from VCDS in order to make this work with the OBDeleven. When I go into "coding" and then the "Long Coding Helper" tab, there are only a total of 8 bits (0-7) that can be accessed on any given byte. So obviously disabling bit 10 "NAR rules" from the VCDS instruction list is not an option. Is this the normal scenario for everyone else or should I have more bit options than I currently do? If anyone can provide info on how to do this tweak using OBD11 I would greatly appreciate it? Thanks very much.

Had same Problem trying to do same mod yesterday, going to try on my 9.7" Samsung Tablet later to see if it displays more bits.. Maybe a limitation? I coded the mirror dip no problem (Bit 2 & 3).

Marc/Indyvw: Hmm....... not sure that I understand your dilemma, but I'd like to help.
First, there isn't a "Bit 10" in any of the control modules on a mk7 - From a coding perspective, all diagnostic cables (including OBD11) simply show the binary equivalent to the Hexadecimal value in the Byte. For all mk7 control modules (and all the other models that I have seen) each Byte has a two digit hexadecimal number and each hexadecimal number is represented by 8 x Bits, The OBD11 screen is exactly the same! So by definition, the binary values on the OBD11 screen can only ever have 8 Bits - no more and no less!
So, getting-back to your task, there is an adaptation channel in the 09 - Central Electr module in a mk7 which I think OBD11 will display as:
Driving light and parking light-Zahl der aktiven Scheinwerfer auf 2 limitieren
This translates roughly to Driving Light and parking Light -number of active headLights ON 2 limit. On NAR models that I have seen, the factory setting for this adaptation channel is in Betrieb lassen (be in operation). You might try changing this to not active and see what happens!!
You will probably need to enter the magic number 31347 as a security code before accessing the adaptation channel Don

This helped me implement it and clear the code:

Any idea how to do this via OBDeleven?

OP, are you still looking for help? To remove NAR restriction, do the following:
55 - Headlight Regulation Coding "market:" Old value: nar; New value: ece 09 - Central Electronics Adaptation "Driving light and parking light:" - "Zahl der aktiven Scheinwerfer auf 2 limitieren:" Old value: in Betrieb lassen; New value: limitieren
You'll get a light error on the dash. To clear it, on a flat surface enter headlight calibration then accept changes. 55 - Headlight Regulation Basic Settings "Basic headlight setting" New value: active "Acknowledge basic setting" New value: active

I have attempted to run the 55 Headlight Regulation, while the car was running but I am not able to change any of the settings
55 - Headlight Regulation Basic Settings "Basic headlight setting" New value: active ---- It does not allow me to change this from Non Active "Acknowledge basic setting" New value: active ---- It does not allow me to change this from Non Active

Kris: Try the exact same procedure with the engine-off and ignition-on

So what I figured out is that I just hold the green check and that runs the Basic Settings.

I do not see "Driving light and parking light:" listed in adaptation. I've tried entering the security code, but it does not appear.
My car is a 2017 model year.

My car is a 2017 model year. yes, if you have a newer version of the central electric module, you should search for " Front" in the list of adaptation channels (instead of "Driving light and parking light") and then select Außenlicht_Front and then select Zahl der aktiven Scheinwerfer auf 2 limitierenDon

It's about VCDS, but the same instructions apply for OBD11. Please ask if you want any clarification. Don
