Hello everyone, I recently installed the 5Q0 937 084 EC BCM unit in my 2014 Golf 7, and I’m experiencing a couple of issues. I’m looking for some advice on possible solutions. The hazard light button’s backlight isn’t working. Also, the passenger airbag light isn’t illuminating. Could these issues be due to incompatibility with my car or is there an adjustment I can make with OBDeleven? Any tips or advice from those with experience on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

onuragca : Hi. Hmm......... without intending any offense, the short answer to your question is maybe, or maybe not!! There is simply not enough data provided to provide an informed response. Please post-up a copy of a SCAN so we can see how this car is built and which modules are complaining, and about what!
If you are not aware how to create a SCAN report, follow the steps below:
- Ignition-ON, engine-OFF
- Fire-up OBD11 Software - plug the dongle into the car's OBD port and connect to the iPhone
- After OBD11 has fully connected - press the big Tap to scan button in the Home screen below
- Wait for the process to complete
To digitize the SCAN report so that you can post-up a copy in a new post - do this:
- Back on the Home screen above, select Garage/Vehicle (lower left side of screen)
- If you have registered more than ONE vehicle against your account - select the correct car.
- Scroll-down the list of options and select History.
- Follow the screenshots below
- On the second screenshot, select Full scan and de-select ALL other options
- After you receive the email that you sent to yourself from the last screenshot - attach a copy of the SCAN file to a new forum post as an attachment

onuragca : Hmm............ OK, the file that you posted is NOT a SCAN- it's part of the history records of your coding changes with OBD11! But that's OK, the information is probably better!! So, something real odd with your history records. The sequence of events in your data file reads as if the BCM on this car is being coded by multiple diagnostic devices! Are you using both VCDS and OBD11 to code the BCM?
The reason for my question is described by the 2 x history records from your data file below - which are pivotal to your incorrectly coded BCM error:
--------------------------------------------------------------- 09 Central Electrics System description: BCM MQBAB H Software number: 5Q0937084EC Software version: 0511 Hardware number: 5Q0937084EC Hardware version: H44 Serial number: B2701012211171 Faults: U101400 - Control module incorrectly coded static B126215 - Headlamp washer system activation Open circuit/short circuit to B+ static
--------------------------------------------------------------- 09 Central Electrics System description: BCM MQBAB H Software number: 5Q0937084EC Software version: 0511 Hardware number: 5Q0937084EC Hardware version: H44 Serial number: B2701012211171 Faults: No trouble codes found
---------------------------------------------------------------
The 2 x records above are sequential with the second record being the older.
So as shown, the BCM was error-free in the older, second record and the very next record shows both an error with the activation of the headlight washer AND it shows the first instance of the incorrectly coded BCM. BUT amazingly, there is NO information of any changes made between the 2 x sequential history records!!
Conclusion: more than one diagnostic device has been used to make changes to the BCM on this car!!
Result: I have NO idea what other coding changes were made to this BCM -so I can't help!!
Way forward: I suggest that you combine the change information from the multiple diagnostic devices and that you review the combined database - I suspect this is the only way to fix this problem!!
