Has anyone tried any mods to DRLs on a 2018 R? I've coded out the orange sidelights, which was simple enough. Coded out the lowbeams from DRLs too, which makes them look better IMHO.
However I can't find a leuchte set for the DRLs. 2SL/3SL and 4TFR/5TFR are all blank. DRLs work tho, so something must be controlling them!
Any help gratefully received.

^^^ berger: hi - yes the FL Golf doesn't use traditional "Leuchte-sets" to control the headlight lamps as did the previous mk7. Instead, the front lamps have their own control modules - which likely appear on your scan report as address hex D6-Light Ctrl Left & address hex D7-Light Ctrl Right

Hi again.
I indeed have the modules D6/D7, however when manually added to the list of control units OBDEleven fails to communicate with them. Is it likely these control units are integrated somewhere else, or is it possible that they require a newer protocol?
I've read that some older VCDS devices can't communicate with these modules.

How do you know you have the modules if you have to add them?

How do you know you have the modules if you have to add them? Fair question! I guess OBD11 will show the control modules regardless? Apologies for any rookie errors, I've some coding/programming experience but I'm a 100% Vagcom virgin... EDIT: A scan showed fault codes in the Gateway module (due to polling modules that don't exist...), I removed the control modules from the list and the fault codes cleared.

Well your on the wrong forum as vagcom doesn’t really exist anymore 😂😂 (its vcds)
I could be wrong as I’m a rookie too but i thought if it’s not ticked in the module list from factory it’s not there physically, if you add modules then you tick them in the list and can then change the parameters

^^^ Just as a further comment on the dialogue above, and for those reading this who might not be aware - the programmers @ OBD11 have kindly embedded a facility in their software where the "Control Units screen" tells the user the state of each module's registration in the Gateway list. Here's an example of the "Control Units screen" from my test-bench that demonstrates this facility (the screenshot was taken with the old OBD11 software, but it's the same in the current release): For the purpose of this example, I registered the Engine module (@ address hex01) in the Gateway list (using my instructions in my previous post above), but I disconnected the CAN high wire from the module (so that the Engine module couldn't talk to the Gateway module). Notice the colors in the "hex address" circle in the upper right-side of each module. The OBD11 protocols are as follows: - Black colored circle means that the module has been added to the Gateway list, but it hasn't responded when polled (likely because the module isn't actually installed in the car)
- Red colored circle means that the module is correctly registered in the Gateway list, but the module has reported Trouble codes when polled
- Green colored circle (not shown in my pic) means that the module is correctly registered in the Gateway list and no Trouble codes have been reported

As always Don, thanks for your wisdom!
In that case, my vehicle does not appear to have the D6/D7 control modules. They are black in the example given. I have made the DRL in menu tweak, in case this would have had any effect.

Hi bergerac82,
Did you find the right channels to adjust the DRL's?
I'm also having a hard time finding the right control set. I have found out that D6/D7 are supposed to be fitted to all LED headlights (on the 7.5) and that they are connected to module 4B. However I still can't find the right set to adjusting DRL.

Thanks for the reply!
However I dont think that this applies for LED headlights.
