Hello

I had PLA 2.0 with ECU part numer 5Q0919298K - this unit died so i have bought a new one but, by mistake, i didn't see the difference between both since the new one is 5QA919298C, the first one is PLA 2.0 and thsi one is PLA 3.0.

After seeing this difference i have checked what i could do, and is was easier to keep this one and adapt the code.

After reading the retrofit it seems to be easy but, for me, no it wasn't

For PLA 3.0
03- ABS

Byte 24 bit 5

Byte 26 Bit 4 and Bit 6

17-Instruments

Byte 5 Bit 4: Park/Steer Assist installed ― disable it, if you had PLA2 previously.

Byte 13 - bit 0, enable (i can't do it)

Steering Assist 44, enable:

Byte 0 Bit 1: Park/Steer Assist active/installed

PLA 10, enable in the coding:

Byte 0 Bit 1-2: 02 System Type: Park/Steer Assist

Byte 1 Bit 4: Limited Operation available

Byte 1 Bit 5: Vehicle Path Display active

Byte 1 Bit 6: Wheels Speed Sensors with Rotation Direction Detection installed

Byte 2 Bit 0-1: 02 Optical Parking System (OPS) with 360° Illustration active

Byte 2 Bit 2-3: 04 Display and Operating Protocol (BAP) v4.0 active

Byte 2 Bit 4-5: 10 Camera Type: Rear View Camera (RVC) installed

Byte 3 Bit 4: Automatic Park Assist Activation enabled

Byte 4 Bit 0: Trunk Monkey (PR-UFO) locked away ― the unit will not accept new coding without this bit.

Byte 4 Bit 4: ManualTransmission installed

hmm.........I'm not sure why there is any confusion about the reason for the hex17 module error!

The 13636608 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded fault is almost certainly because you haven't changed Byte 13, Bit 0 - so, no mystery with this error code!!

I have no idea why you have not been able to change the software switch on the hex17 module. The BIG disadvantage with VCDS is that Ross-Tech offers only ONE diagnostic mode. If you were using OBD11 (which is the reason for this forum - it's NOT intended for VCDS questions), you would be offered the following 4 x diagnostic modes:

VW,
Development,
OBD,
End Of Line (EOL)

So, if you were using OBD11 - I would suggest that you try making the Byte 13, Bit 0 change using EOL.

VCDS does have EOL capability - but to access this diagnostic mode, VCDS users must personally ask Uwe Ross for the access instruction.

No, I'm not joking, you read my words correctly! The absolutely farcical VCDS requirement is that each user must personally request permission from the CEO of Ross-Tech to gain EOL access. Plus - if Ross-Tech agrees to the request, a further requirement is that the VCDS user must promise not to disclose the information!!

Ross-Tech maintain that this protocol is needed to protect VCDS users - somehow (I don't know how) Ross-Tech makes a judgement which VCDS users must be safeguarded from themselves! Again, I'm not kidding!

So because I assume that your VCDS cable is legit, my suggestion is that you contact Ross-Tech and ask Uwe for the EOL access instructions. Hopefully you will be judged not to need protection from your own coding changes!!

For the ABS module error - below I have amended the format for the long-code strings on the old/new hex03 modules to better compare the Byte/Bit values:

Remember that the Binary numbers in my table are read from right-to-left. So, the right-most digit is Bit 0 and the left-most digit is Bit 7

The Byte 26 value is correct - this car already had Bi-Directional Wheel Speed Sensors (Multi-Link Rear Suspension)

However, look at Byte 24 in my table. As shown, this Byte started with the value hex14 and it now has the value hex20.

The new hex20 value means that you have correctly set Bit 5 =1 as per the change listed in your post. However this value also means that you have have set Bit 2 =0 and Bit 4 =0. By making these latter changes, you have told the ABS module not to operate ACC and possible Front Assist. Clearly from the original long-code values for Byte 24, this car was factory fitted with PR. 8T5/8T7. This hasn't changed when you retrofitted the new hex44 module with PLA 3.0!

So, almost certainly, the fact that the ABS module is no longer supporting the car's factory build is the reason for the 8314 - Check Coding of ECUs on Powertrain Data Bus error (ACC and Front Assist are Powertrain CAN bus functions)

My suggestion is that you set Byte 24 = hex34 =00110100
