So I swapped a 2017 Golf R steering wheel into my 17 Alltrack. Both have ACC and I’m getting an error and I’m guessing it’s with coding of the new wheel. I know the buttons are a bit different. ^^^^ the software switch on Byte0, Bit3 in the Steering Column Electronics module @ address hex16 tells the module that your steering wheel has the driver assist button. Your old module didn't have this button - so your existing setting should be 0. Try setting this switch to 1

Ok I got the button to toggle between ACC and LIM. LIM works but ACC does not. I still get an epc light.

^^^ Good!!! LIM- not familiar with this TLA (three-letter-acronym)?
From the code-string on your Engine module (address hex01), it seems that your car is currently coded for PR-8T3/8T8, which is Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist. Is this PR number on your delivery sticker, or was your car fitted with "normal" Adaptive Cruise Control which has the number PR-8T5?
Might be time for you to include a full scan report here, so we can see what type of equipment is fitted to your car. There are so many different options fitted to mk7s around the world that it's difficult to know what's in a MY17 Alltrack (all I can tell from your ECU code string is that your car is RH drive and it's not a RoW model).
And which country are you from?

My car was fitted originally with ACC and front assist. It is a US spec car. I was trying to swap over the golf r steering whee and with the buttons being different came this problem. Now, in order for the LIM which is the speed limiter to work I had to go through a couple of modules and manual check that feature. However, it still doesn’t allow for ACC or even regular cc to work with this wheel. I can toggle through ACC/LIM with the “mode” button like in Europe.

^^^ Here's a more user friendly version of the code-string in your Steering Column Electronics module (@ address hex16) Byte Hex Binary 0 0E 00001110 1 10 00010000 Note that Byte 0, Bits 4-6 are currently set as 000 (remember, Bit 0 in the Binary string is at the extreme RHS) And here's an explanation of the Cruise Control (CC) software switches (which are Byte 0, Bits 4-6) in this module  As you can see , there seems to be a discrepancy in that ACC appears to be not activated!! I get an error when I try to select CC via ACC. I get a function 31 error every time. I even deleted app data to try and resolve it.

^^ hmm..... strange - does this same error occur if you try to change Byte 0, Bit 3 (which was my original suggestion to activate the new "mode" switch)?

No it allows that to happen. ^^ OK - I've just found an auto-scan for a MY 17 Alltrack (NAR model) HERE with ACC operating which is almost identical to yours and it seems that the factory setting for Byte 0, Bits 4-6 on the hex 16 Module is indeed 000. So it seems that your coding for the hex16 module is OK - sorry for the incorrect advice (although I don't know why the software switches are not set)! I have to think more about this - very odd Don |

crxgator: Of course anything is possible, but I doubt it!! I'm assuming that all the Trouble codes in your scan report are current and that you have cleared the errors that would have resulted from the physical installation process of the new steering wheel?

^^^ OK - so now we are getting into more esoteric territory. Not every problem is a coding problem and I'm concerned that the error code "Databus implausible message static". These type of error messages can signify a physical problem rasther than a coding problem I'm trying to find something that connects the ECU and the steering wheel module. Here is a part of the wiring diagram showing a connection between these two modules:  re-check your work and make sure that pins 5 & 6 of the 16 x pin connector on J527 (which is the steering module) are good. So I had a set of switches sent to me that had an ACC button and that fixed it without any more coding tha. For the speed limiter.
