Good morning. On previous occasions I reset the oil and inspection service without any problem. On this occasion once reset, every time I put or take out the contact, it shows me a message both in the dashboard and in the navigator indicating: "oil service and inspection in 30000 kms" Can someone tell me if this has ever happened to him and how to fix it? I have tried to reset from the dashboard and the blessed message of "oil service and inspection in 30000kms" continues.
I have also tried to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery in case the control unit had been blocked. But the message continues. Any solution, please?

Manuel: Hi.
It's not clear if you changed coding in the Dashboard module to reset the service message - it's also unclear which form of service mode this car uses; the FIX version, or the extended (variable) version!
I will assume for this reply that this car uses the "normal" SRI mode - FIX. So, as a first try, follow my visual instructions below (note: the screenshots are from a now obsolete version of OBD11 - but the latest software is very similar):
If you still have the same problem after completing the steps above - and if the adaptation channel ESI: oil quality in the Dashboard module has the value poor oil quality, post up screenshots of the following channel values on this car:
- FIX: Reset value for next mileage-dependent inspection
- FIX: Reset value for next time-dependent inspections
- FIX: Max. distance until next mileage-related inspection
- FIX: Maximum time until next time-dependent inspection
- FIX: Distance covered since last mileage-dependent inspection
- FIX: Time since last time-dependent inspection
- ESI:oil quality

First of all, thank you for your answer. Very kind. I use good oil quality and extended service I have reset from the diagnosis for good oil quality. That is, to make 30000 kms. I understand that by putting good quality oil the values are taken from ESI AND SIA. I show you all the values:
FIX: Reset value for next mileage-dependent inspection = 15000 kms FIX: Reset value for next time-dependent inspections 365 FIX: Max. distance until next mileage-related inspection 15000 kms FIX: Maximum time until next time-dependent inspection 365 FIX: Distance covered since last mileage-dependent inspection 0 days FIX: Time since last time-dependent inspection 0 days ESI:oil quality good oil quality
ESI: distance driven from inspection = 0 kms ESI: time from inspection = 0 days ESI:minimum value km-driving distance/inspection= 15000 kms ESI: maximum value km-driving distance/inspection= 30000 kms ESI: maximum value of time between inspections = 730 days
SIA: maximum value of distance to service= 30000 kms SIA: maximum value of time to service= 730 days
Thanks.

Manuel: hmm...........the information in your reply is far better and it very much helps in understanding this problem: Try this in the Dashboard module - Adaptation: - ESI: Resetting ESI > no warning

Hello, I tried this in the Dashboard - Adaptation module: ESI: ESI reset > without warning, but the warning every time I put and take out the contact continues "oil service and inspection in 30000 kms".
What I have realised is that in the dashboard module .... Adaptation .... ESI: Resetting Esi ... reset.... When I confirm the reset... it resets the kms and days, but the warning active and not reset continues to appear as it should appear. Right now I have reset it as you have told me without warning, but the warning continues. Thank you for your answer. Let's see if you can help me. Thank you.

manuellr83:OK - something real odd with this car! Please confirm that this car was factory coded with ESI:oil quality > good oil quality. If not, return the channel value back to poor quality oil (this does NOT mean sub-standard oil) and retry ESI: Resetting ESI

Hello. I have tried to change to ESI: poor oil quality and then in the dashboard module.... Adaptation....
ESI: Resetting Esi... reset.... But when I confirm the reset... this time the reset option has been marked and in the box it no longer puts the message "oil service and inspection in 30000kms", but the message has been modified and now the message says inspection in 15,000 kms.
Then I have reset the inspection manually from the box (pressing the counter to zero of the kms and putting the contact) and the message has been deleted.
I don't know very well what happened but the annoying message has been deleted.
A strange thing that has happened is that looking in the browser it marks:
Inspection in 15,000 kms or 365 days
Oil service in 30000 or 730 days.
This is not correct since it should be marked
Inspection in 15,000 kms or 365 days
Oil service in 15000 or 365 days since I have selected poor quality oil.
Could it be that this is misconfigured in dashboard.... adaptation.... ?
I understand that both ESI poor quality oil and ESI good quality oil come predefined from the factory and the values cannot be varied, being 15,000 kms 365 days for poor quality and 30000 kms and 730 for good oil quality.
I'm sorry to write so much, but I want to explain myself as best as possible to see if you can help me.
Thank you in advance

Apart from the message I just wrote that it is strange about the reset from the box and now mark oil change in 30000 kms instead of the 15,000 kms that is what I should mark,
I have marked good oil quality again and the message still does not appear.
My car has 76219 kms and I want to match the oil change warning now to the 80000 kms, for that if I'm not wrong now that the oil and inspection service is reset, I should modify:
ESI: distance travelled from the inspection = 26219 kms
ESI: time from inspection = indifferent,
Is it correct?
Well, if I modify this, the warning jumps again in the dashboard and indicates oil service in 3800kms.
Do you know what's going on?
I'll tell you all the possible data to know if I have something wrong with the configuration or the control unit has gone crazy.
Thank you

hmm....... as I said, something strange about this car - I can't follow your words about the values that were used for the channels! Regarding the 80,0000m km service, this is my logic: Since you want the service warning message to happen when the odometer = 80,000 kms and the current odometer reading is 76,219 kms, the distance the car must travel to next service = 80,000 kms - 76,219 kms =3,781 kms If the channel value for Max. distance until next mileage-related inspection = 15000 kms, the value for the channel distance driven from inspection = (15,000 kms -3,781 kms) = 11,219 kms.

Thank you for your prompt response.
The problem is that if I enter the value of 3781 kms... reappears when putting and removing the ignition the blessed message of oil service in 3700 kms.
I don't understand.
I also don't understand why if I reset from the box it resets values to 30000 kms when it is supposed to reset to poor oil quality and it should be 15,000 kms. Thanks

The problem is that if I enter the value of 3781 kms... reappears when putting and removing the ignition the blessed message of oil service in 3700 kms. I don't understand. Yes, I'm confused too! I'm not sure what the current values for the SRI (Service Reminder Interval) are on this car - there have been too many changes for me to follow, alas!!
If you are saying that this car is now using the of channels for "poor quality oil" (i.e. fixed interval SRI)- then I suggest FiX:distance driven from inspection = 11,219 kms (i.e. 15,000 kms-3,781 kms). I'm NOT suggesting that you "enter the value 3781 kms"
I also don't understand why if I reset from the box it resets values to 30000 kms when it is supposed to reset to poor oil quality and it should be 15,000 kms. Again, I'm not sure what the current SRI values are on this car - but if you have set SIA: maximum value of distance to service= 30000 kms. - this is almost certainly the reason why "it resets values to 30000 kms when........ it should be 15,000 kms"
I'm totally guessing, but maybe the cause of your non-understanding is because you haven't made the mental separation between what VW call a "Service" and an "Inspection". These are totally separate activities under the general category of SRI. The Dashboard module manages both activities as follows: - Fixed interval Inspection = the adaptation channel group FIX
- Fixed Interval Service = the adaptation channel group SIA
For an abundance of clarity - the factory default for the "fixed interval Service" (as distinct from the "fixed interval inspection") is that the warning message will occur when the earlier of the two events below happen:
- 15,000 kms travel distance, or
- 365 days
So, if you want to use the factory default "fixed interval Service" - then apply the following channel values: SIA:- maximum value of distance to service > 15000 kms
- maximum value of time to service > 365 d

Good afternoon.
Thank you for the answer.
I have changed the values as you have indicated:
SIA: maximum value of distance to service = 15000 kms
SIA: maximum value of time to service= 365 days
In the Dashboard module - Adaptation:
ESI: Resetting ESI > I have marked RESET, saving this value.
Oil quality: poor oil quality.
In the section FiX:distance driven from inspection= 11219 kms.
I have removed the contact and the Oil Service message reappears in 3800 kms.
Then again ESI: Resetting ESI > I have dialled RESET
I have tested in the section FiX: distance driven from inspection = 100 kms.
I have removed the contact and this time the message "oil service in x kms" does not appear
So as I saw that it worked and the control unit accepted the value, I went back to FiX: distance driven from inspection = 1000 kms.
I have taken out the contact and this time the message "oil service in x kms" did not appear either, accepting the control centre the values.
Then I went back to FiX again: distance driven from inspection = 11000 kms working again and accepting the values without the happy message coming out.
Then I went back to FiX: distance driven from inspection= 11219kms working again and accepting this time the values without the happy message coming out.
I explain everything as I have done it in case the same thing happens to someone in the future and thanks to colleague dv52 (Australia) and I can help you solve it.
I don't really understand why at first the switchboard didn't accept the values and then it did, but it worked for me.
Thank you, Dv52
