Hello, I want the Golf R active info display on my 2020 golf 8 r line. However when coding, the display doesn't show up. Also with the g meter, it says its there, but stays blank. I have the R line display, which is the honeycomb pattern with the R inside it, but i'm not getting the Golf R display there.
Golf 8 R-Line 2020 1.5 eTsi 150HP 7-DSG
My mode indicator seems to be in the far right corner, while i see that many others have it in de middle.
Edit:
Ok! Is it possible to update the firmware since its the same screen…?

As far as I know in the 2020 version due to a different firmware version of the display you cannot have R active info display. I have a Style 1.5 eTSI 150HP 7DSG that IS able to display (in fact GTI and R are the most two active info displays that I love. Also Torque works, but NO Gmeter.
On the other identical car but from 2020 (mine is Aug 2021) first of all the display is different. It doesn't snow clock and temperature (left/right) but only one (don't remember which) in the middle. And also the ODO is not displayed so basically my colleague never knows now many kilometers the car has Also I don't like the honeycomb and I've removed it.

G-display cannot be coded in a non R car. You lack the acceleration sensors and the torque vectoring differential for rear drive. As far as the R screen is concerned, you might need to upfate the FW and dataset on the Dash to get it to work. It works jusr fine on MY2021 cars and newer.

Sometimes. Depends on the HW version of your instrument cluster. Sometimes new FW requires new HW as well. For example, this is the case for people who want to have the navi map shown between round speed dials...like in the old days of MK7's... They require a brand new dash with newer HW release to be able to code this in.
Also, even if compatible, you will find it hard to find the proper binary file. Most of the time, the only way to do a FW update to a module is to ask a certified dealer to do it, but they might decline if there is not a valid reason to do it.
You can try upgrading FW with VCDS but, but you can cause literally thousands of euros in damage by just one click 😂

ace65 it doesn't worth the money, effort and warranty for that to be honest. Lots of things from R and GTI will not work in a regular car. No 4motion, no diff data, no SLD. And if you go to that road, remapping, re-flashing and reprogramming all your car just doesn't worth it!
