Hi everyone, I recently upgraded the headlights on my Golf Mk7 2016 TSI to the Golf Mk7.5 GTI headlights. I purchased a harness specifically to ensure compatibility, and everything is installed and connected. However, I'm running into a couple of issues: Here you can find the car scan: GOLF MK7 OBD.txt (9.88 KB) AFS Faults: I'm receiving several AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System) faults after the installation. High Beam Not Working: My high beams are not functioning at all. I'm wondering if these issues can be resolved through coding using OBDELEVEN or if there might be a wiring issue that I need to address. Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, could you share what coding tweaks are necessary or if any wiring changes need to be made? Harness Link: a.aliexpress.com/_EuBxDXnHeadlights link: The store has removed the listing (ebay) Thanks in advance!

Ayrton: Hi.
hmm......... first, it's difficult to understand which errors in your SCAN were caused while you were plugging/unplugging equipment and which errors genuinely remain! I suggest that you clear ALL the error codes on this car and make a fresh SCAN!
second: the thing that's different about this car is that it was factory built with halogen headlight fittings (hence the 10 x pin headlight connectors) AND with a 55 Headlight Regulation module. Normally the 55 module isn't installed in halogen headlight mk7s!
Without providing any information about the new headlights, it's impossible to understand if they are compatible with a Golf mk7 that has its AFS function controlled by a 55 module!
Also, while you might have dealt with the physical problem of making the car's 10 x pin connectors mate with the 14 x pin on the new headlights by installing the Aliexpress adapters - this does NOT mean that the new headlights are compatible with mk7s that were factory built with halogen headlights!!
By stating that the new headlights are "Golf Mk7.5 GTI headlights" does NOT mean much because there are lots of variations across the world markets for these cars. So, we don't even know if these headlights are LED, or HID - neither do we know whether level control on these new headlights is via the CAN bus, or via motors directly connected to the 55 module. And we don't know if the new headlights are OEM, or if they were manufactured by a third-party (i.e. non-OEM fittings).
Finally and with the caveats above, my hunch from your SCAN is that this car has both coding and wiring problems that will need to be fixed - if the potential compatibility issues can be addressed!!

OK - so without intending any offense, this retrofit project is very "courageous"!
Here's a short synopsis of my understanding of this project:
- The new full-projector LED headlights are non-OEM and the fittings were designed by a non-OEM company (V-LAND) for a mk7 that was factory built with headlight equipment that has 14 x pin headlight connectors (which means a mk7 that was factory built with non-incandescent headlights)
- However, this particular mk7 was factory built with headlight equipment that had 10 x pin connectors (which means incandescent headlights) AND to further complicate this project, the AFS on this car unusually is controlled by a 55 Headlight Regulation module.
- To deal with the 10-pin/14-pin mismatch, this project uses a cross wiring harness that is designed by a totally different non-OEM manufacturer. Nothing is known about how the 10-pin side wires are connected to the 14-pin side.
Clearly the equipment mismatch, the non-OEM headlight fittings and different non-OEM manufacturer of the harness raises serious compatibility issues - especially since there is very little information in your web-links about the design of the non-OEM equipment!
I suggest that you contact V-Land and get more information about their headlight fittings - in particular, find-out how/if the new headlights work on a mk7 with the configuration of this car. If V-Land confirm compatibility (which I doubt), get a pin-out diagram for the harness from the Aliexpress manufacturer
