Is it possible to activate hi beam assist on my mk7 gti, I have the camera in the windscreen and lane assist and as far as I'm aware that's all I need hardware wise
I know there is an app tk turn it on but I've read it's only for halogens whereas I have the xenon headlights
Thanks
(I also made this post in general discussions then thought it would make more sense putting it here haha)

robbo : Hi. It really depends on which version central electrics module is installed on this car. If the car has the version 09 module that has an active long-code string, and if this car has HID headlights as factory installed, the value of Byte 02 should be: - Bit 0 =0
- Bit 1= 1
- Bit 2 =0
ONLY if this is so, change Byte 02, Bit 0 =1.
And in Adaptation, on the central electrics module, change Assistance Light Functions- Menuesteuring Fernlichtassistent from Not Present to Present
Also, assuming that the A5 Driver Assistance module (front camera) on this car is a 5Q0 series device - change Byte 02, Bit 0=1 (High Beam Assist Present).
To use HBA function after the tweak is implemented - the adaptation channel change (above) will add a new HBA software switch in the MENU that needs to be activated.
The post-tweak in-car procedure is like this:
- Press the CAR button on the escutcheon plate around the infotainment screen
- Select the symbol to open the Vehicle settings menu.
- Select the Light settings option
- Active Light Assist

Thanks don ill give it a go tomorrow. For clarification it's a 2015 model year with MIB 1 if that's any indication to which central electrics are installed.

Robbo: OK, if this is a MY15 model Golf, it will have the earlier version central electrics module - which means that the 09 module will have an active long-code string!
EDIT: as for the subsequent information in your last post - Bye 02 on the central electric module =1A = 00011010 (Bit 0 is the highlighted blue digit). So, Bits 0-2 on this car are as I assumed in my suggested changes! After you make the long-code amendment, Byte 02 should have the value 1B.

Hi all just an update,
I've done everything Don said to do and it seems to have worked, the light assist option is on the light settings and when I flick the stalk forward the hi beam symbol with a A in it comes on. I just need to wait till it's dark for a proper test.
Thanks again Don. Hero.
