Hey all. !!
Would like to say long time reader first time poster. Thank you for all the information!!
I have two golf mk6. 2011 2 door auto trans with the 2.5L and a 2013 golf comfort line 5 speed 2.5l.
My question today has many postings that come close but not quite what I need. I may have missed a thread apologies if so.
I purchased a 2011 Golf two door automatic with a CBTA engine.
I purchased it from a young fella who didn’t really seem to know anything about vehicles at all. Kind of bought it with Blind Faith time pretty confident I’ll be able to figure this out. He advised when I bought the car, the transmission needed replacing upon inspection of the car just momentarily you could tell that not the case the valve cover was so loose that he had said he replaced and the spark plugs were filled with oil him, and his girlfriend had been driving around like that For months and ultimately the car went into limp mode
He said the car wouldn’t move at all after I cleared some codes Because there was just so many the car actually moves not fast upon inspection I found the catalytic converter to be clogged. There’s a new one on the way, but has metallic. Whirring noise. The rpm’s quickly go up and down and the only code I’m getting is p0016 for cam correlation. If it was a 2 L, I would know where to start because of this forum but I find really limited information on this 2.5 L I don’t really understand the Cam adjuster phaser if you will I have a spare parts engine here, but I’m pretty sure that that that one jumped it’s timing I’ll post a pic of a scar on it. My question is does anyone have experience with this engine and this code ? Information on this phaser like is there a locking mechanism that maybe got triggered to save the engine?
I really appreciate all your help. Any advice is welcomed. .
