Hi guys first things first I am sorry for wasting anyone’s time but I am very new to all of this.
Currently I have upgraded myself to 1969 firmware on my Golf Style 2020 MK8 and I honestly don’t like it. I see some flicking on my infotainment screen and on my cluster there seems to of left a ghost mark of the Speed sign when I cycle through the view option I can see it there.
I really just want to downgrade back to my old version and just get the updates whenever they decide to get to the UK. Also another question I have me doing the upgrade myself will this not allow me to get further updates over the air?
If someone could explain or help or give me an idea on how to do this through obd or any other way?
If I go and fine the files for 1941 and reinstall it how I did 1969 will that work? If I factory reset the infotainment screen will that work?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi there. First of all DO NOT click "factory reset" in OBD11. It will make that module unusable. It will clear all settings as it was when it came out from factory. I had the "flickering" thing on 1941 but I've managed to get rid of them by disabling fading. I think is "locking decoration animation" in module 17. Value from NO to YES

M Hi Melkool thank you for replying. Okay I understand not to do factory setting but do you know how I can get the firmware upgrade myself and delete it so I’m back to 1941? Also because I did the upgrade myself have I now stopped myself from getting any further upgrades over the air? and great I will give the animation a try and let you know thank you again Hi there. To be honest I have no idea if it's working by using the 1941 file and use the procedure to "downgrade" but maybe someone with experience can help you/us. You can try by using "restore to defaults" from the tablet itself, it will delete settings and profiles but I'm not sure if it will help. Mine had the "glitch" when using Navigation map in both dash and infotainment but it may be related to the poor hardware that I have (my cad did not have navigation but I purchased it from SHOP). Hardware is H56 not H58.

Okay great I guess I could try the Factory Reset but I’m sure it won’t reset the software as it’s been updated. But I guess I could give it a try and see if it works. And there is nothing in obd which allows you to downgrade software? I have no idea..but I think not. You cannot update modules with OBD11 and if you cannot update it means that you cannot downgrade.

Okay I guess my only option is to do 1941 files or try the factory reset infotainment display but I don’t think that will work because when I bought the car the previous owner did the updates and I could see when in the engineer mode. And your saying 1941 might not even work and could cause more problems I have no idea..but I think not. You cannot update modules with OBD11 and if you cannot update it means that you cannot downgrade.

You could at least try with 1941 files .... Factory reset from the infotainment itself does not change MIB3 version.

Never saw the cluster to have pixels being frozen for a significant time. Also this has nothing to do with software, anyways.
Factory reset will likely kill all adaptions. I do not think anybody wants do reset them by hand There is no downgrade path, not supported at all, chances are: Not possible and securely prevented Being stuck in the rem for ever Brick it consequently

Not possible, only way is the way forward (newer fw). Disabling fading animation in 17, should help. As for the dash cluster, the temporary burn-in is normal when switching views, especially if one view was active for long time. Dissapears after around 30 minutes...

I have 2021 model and have seen ghosting some times in cluster. I think that is caused by cluster panel firmware.

I disagree here that this is Software. Automotive displays are made to operate in - comparing them to consumer displays - extreme conditions. None of my displays st home are being made to work between -20degree to over 50degree celsius. The cluster is. Also, they need to adapt to dim down to very little brightness and also need to be very bright.
So there are tradeoffs in both the illumination and the display Matrix

Hi! From 1664 you can't go directly to 1941. Install first 1896. I'm not sure if you need 1899 before 1941 but you can give it a try.

My opinion is that the Gateway control unit must be replaced, it is too old when infotainment sw 16xx
I said that in golfmk8 forum and I am asking what is your gateway partnumber? I think that you have obd11, because you asking same question in this forum? so, find out the gateway information from your car.
