Hello,
I do not have an OBD11 but want to buy one. I do not fully understand how the activation of dongle features works.
I need it for a 2023 Skoda Superb, i.e. a MIB3 car.
I have an older VCDS USB+Can which sees and reports about the controllers, but unfortunately does not read or code MIB. I also have a VCP with a current subscription which is very good except for the labeling of Bits......
Now with an OBD11 are the 3 advertised dongles different or can I jump between different access by getting a bigger or less involved pack? I basically want to see the labeling of various coding bytes / bits but do the coding with my VCP.
Which dongles will allow to see all the labeling?
Cheers Ralf

There are two dongles, The White One (Which OBD11 No longer sell on the site) or the Black one
The difference between the various packages on VAG motors is down to what level of functionality you have.
As you are only using the tool to look at data not programme you can just buy the basic package.
I would however warn you unlike VCDS OBD11 do not provide labels for the various Bits in the long coding, This is maintained by user community so as you are looking at a new motor I suspect you will only see the manufacturer provided labels, but these are not updated in the Byte/Bit screens so for your purposes probably not a lot of use.
However be aware that if you want to unlock a SFD protected control unit to do the coding then not sure if VCP unlocks the SFD for free but if you have the Pro Pack then that is free so that you can unlock the control unit and then use other tools to do the coding.

Thanks for the reply.
Are you saying that OBD11 can overcome the Fec/SwaP codes in MIB3 cars?
So does OBD11 show labels for Bytes and Bits, even if they are just manufacturer labels? You are saying the basic pack will do this, but the way I read this was that the basic pack will just clear DTCs.
I was trying to find images of what different packs can provide.

OBD11 Is a simple coding device and does not support FEC/SWAP Updates as far as i am aware.
on the basic plan you can look but can use the Long Coding and Adaptations.
If you select option 0 then you get a text file of the manufacturers coding details but no relationship to Byte/Bit
If you select option 1 you get the Byte Bit screens but you only see descriptions if users have created them and on newer cars I suspect they have not been updated. VCDS is much better as they support and update this stuff but they encrypted the files to stop people from copying them
You said you were going to use VCP to do the coding so if your car has descriptions using the basic plan you can see them but I suspect there will not be a lot of them.
Dont forget SFD and also what is now called SFD2 but in actual fact is a firmware update so on some (and eventually all) my 2024 cars there is yet another layer of security thrown in.
