Hello all!
I am currently living in Germany and am trying to activate the 2024 Atlas SE w/ tech, wifi hotspot in order to get Android Auto/Apple CarPlay working wirelessly. The hotspot can only be enabled through an internet connection that the Atlas makes to a cell tower for T-Mobile USA, but I can't do that since it doesn't like talking to international cell towers for service, which prevents me from activating the local wifi hotspot, which disables wireless carplay/auto.
So that's where the ODBeleven comes in. Does anyone know if there is a code to activate the wifi hotspot in the Atlas manually, in order to use my carplay/auto wirelessly?

There is nothing to do with the car Hotspot, and using AA or Carplay wirelessly. To the matter of fact, it is the other way arround, once you will connect your phone to the car Hotspot -> you will not be able to use AA or Carplay wirelessly and you will need the cable. It is two different wifi links, and devices can usage only 1 at a time.
There should be no problem connecting your device wirelessly to AA or Carplay. First use the cable, make sure all settings are enabled on phone, and you should be fine.

I know that is how it usually works, but not in this case. I cannot turn on the WiFi hotspot needed to project the video for auto or carplay. imgur.com/a/KcJlYKAThe radio button stays grayed-out and the WiFi doesn't turn on when trying to. I've read it requires a cellular connection to activate this. The Atlas needs North American GSM frequencies to this and the towers here in Germany don't connect on any of the American bands the Atlas module has. I was just wondering if there was a quick option to change from a "false" to "true" to activate. |

Once again, there is nothing to do between the car wifi, and connectig your phone wireless to the car infotainment AA or Car Play.
You do not need to connect the car to any internet plan or local network to establish a wireless connection for AA or Car Play.
The wireless connection created between your phone and the infotainment is locally between the 2 devices, kind of a "Wifi Direct". It is not going out to cell towers. The phone gets and uses it's own internet /data from it's Sim card and plan.

To use Android Auto or Apple Carplay wirelessly, you will need to make sure your infotainment system module supports WIFI in the 5GHz bands. If it is, make sure your phone seetings are up, and the service should connect automaticly after the first wired connection. |
