Hi all, I recently observed some strange behavior with my NAR MK7.5—the DRLs in the headlights are switching on at low brightness with the knob set to AUTO despite the fact I removed the Tagfahrlicht function from channel-sets 2 and 3. What's even crazier is that even if I disable the entire channel-set (i.e., set the lasstype to not active), the lights still come on! I have no idea what's going on. Your wisdom is greatly appreciated! I've attached a full backup of my Central Electrics module. 03-08-2024 Central Electrics Backup.txt (81.53 KB) P.S. The coding is not OEM (i.e., I've adjusted many if not all of the channel-sets under Adaptation). Thanks! Steven

Steven:Hi.
Hmm........... with absolutely no offense intended - yes, indeed the DRL behavior is exactly as you describe because that's the way that you have coded the lamps to behave. So, there is no "strange behavior" !!!
Maybe we should start with the basics - first, let's make a distinction between the DRL lighting function and the DRL fittings on this car. These 2 x aspects of what you call "DRL" are an important difference for the purpose of this response.
For very obvious reasons, I don't get to see many (any?) "Yankee" model Golfs (e-Golfs, or not e-Golfs) on my local streets here in the very, very deep south - however, I note from your Back-up data that this car has LED style DRL fittings.
Whenever MQB platform cars like this e-Golf have factory installed DRL fittings with LED lamps and these lights are controlled by the central electrics module (not all of these cars have headlight lamps controlled by the 09 module control) - 2 x Leuchte-sets are used for the DRL lamps on each car-side.
The factory Leuchte-set allocations for LED style DRL lamps are like this: - DRL Signal
- Left-side: Leuchte2SL VLB10
- Right-side: Leuchte3SL VRB21
- DRL Power-Supply
- Left-side: Leuchte4TFL LB4
- Right-side: Leuchte5 TFL RB32
If I look at the Leuchte-data in your Back-up, I find that you have indeed removed the Tagfahrlicht command from Leuchte2 and Leuchte3 - however, the command has not been removed from the Power-supply Leuchte-sets. I suggest that you remove Tagfahrlicht from the left/right Power-Supply Leuchte-sets to complete this part of the coding change
OK, now for the substantive part of your question: With the Tagfahrlicht-command removed as above - the DRL fittings on this car (separate from the DRL light-function) are still programmed to operate the following lighting functions: - Parking Lights (I think you call these "Position Lights)
- Single Side Parking Lights (the lamp on one car-side is illuminated when the turn-signal stalk is activated after the car is locked)
- Engine compartment light (not sure why you have included this lighting function on the DRL lamps)
So, the behavior that you describe is the Parking Light function - meaning that the DRL lamp is programmed to illuminate when the Low-Beam lights are switched-ON by the light-sensor after dark.
If you want to also delete the Parking Light function from the DRL fittings - do this:
Leuchte2SL VLB10 and Leuchte3SL VRB21 - Lichtfunktion A > nicht aktiv
Leuchte4TFL LB4 and Leuchte5 TFL RB32- Lichtfunktion B > nicht aktiv
- Dimmwert AB > 0

Don, thank you so much for your response.
I wonder why the C-shaped LEDs in the bumper (Leuchte12 & Leuchte13) turn off when I remove the Tagfahrlicht function from the left and right DRL Power Supply channel-sets. The Lasstype programmed for Leuchte12 and Leuchte13 is the same one programmed for Leuchte2 and Leuchte3. Do you have any idea why the DRL Power Supply is controlling LEDs in the bumper?
By the way, when I bought my car (original owner), the LEDs in the bumper were the Daytime Running Lights and the LEDs in the headloghts only switched on with position lights. With this configuration, the default programming included the Tagfahrlicht and Standlicht functions in the DRL Power Supply channel-set. It seems with the same configration now (having changed other things) the LEDs in the headlights power on with the DRL function. I'm not sure why this is the case.
Thanks for your explanation!
Steven
P.S. I think I need to clarify the issue I'm having: the LEDs in the headlights power on with the DRL function (during normal daytime driving) despite the fact the Tagfahrlcht function is not added to the relevant channel-sets. Also, I checked other adaptations like Tagfahrlicht-Dauerfahrlicht aktiviert zusaetzlich Standlicht and Standlicht aktiviert zusaetzlich Tagfahrlicht in Aussenlicht_Front, but they are both not active. I am at a loss.

Steven: Again, I don't get to see many (any) "Yankee" Golfs down here - so stuff is different !!
Leuchte12 and Leuchte13 are normally the Leuchte-sets for the front fog-lights - which of course are located on the bumper in the traditional Golf. Clearly a "Yankee" e-Golf does NOT have traditional front fog-lights - albeit the fog-light Leuchte-sets are used for other purposes.
Please describe EXACTLY what it is that you are attempting to change on this car (identify in your words which lighting function and which lamp position you want to alter).
