Good day my friend! Exactly yesterday I had the same issue. With the same code. After work when I started my car I saw the fault, I noticed that the sound when you put the car in "P" is different. I tried to restart the car few times - nothing changed. But when I stopped on gas station, car was closed for 10 minutes. After that - it's disappeared, and the sound of gearbox selector became normal. I also tried to find some information, but with that code of fault - I can't do this, no information at all. I guess it can have another code, maybe OBD11 shows code in another way.

Hi,
I'm don't know Golf, but I have Octavia RS. My car started same error last weekend. Repair shop said they need to replace gear selection lever. I did find this video related to it. Changing part looks a bit tricky in Skoda.

Only way to solve the issue is the replacement of the gear selector mechanism. The pin for the neutral lock solenoid ocassionally gets stuck or the contact swich that tells the car it is in "P" has an electrical malfunction. Either way, neither can be replaced alone, the whole lever mechanism has to be exchanged. My reccomendation is to buy the part new, used parts on different websites have mostly the same issue. This problem with the lever is quite common on MK8 (just like issues with travel assist steering wheel)

For anyone having this problem, this issue can be fixed. I can confirm I fixed this problem myself on my MK8 Golf GTD.
Also for those who go to main dealers to get this fixed, they charge over 1K euros to fix it by replacing the complete gear selector unit, even tho VAG group has released a TPI bulletin and theres a repair kit for these cars.
Anyway, what I did, as per that Russian article, I removed the selector unit, and then removed the magnet, cleaned the connectors, bent the pins a bit for better connection and glued the unit with superglue to the main housing and used cable ties as Russians recommended.
What happens with this selector magnet, it appears that over time they start to move within the housing from magnet force and the either they loose contact from the plug or it becomes out of tolerance when magnet is clamping.
Good luck if you try it, well worth it and it fixed my car.
