Hi, both numberplate standard led bulbs have went out on my 2015 S3, have warning on dash so changed both with brand new audi units and still not working.

Scanned for codes with odbeleven and the following is showing, buld failure and control module incorrectly coded.

Only coding i done was last year and it was to enable the radar screen for the rear parking sensors but no issues with bulbs, all other rear lights work as does the boot latch.

My guess is that the LED lamps were replaced on this car on 2nd February 24 and that coding changes were made to the 09 module at the same time (@ about 5:17 PM).

My hunch is that there could 2 x likely issues that are worth exploring: first make sure that the polarity of the LEDs are correctly connected - meaning that the Anode-end is connected to the positive terminal and the Cathode-end is earth (I'm not sure about the fittings on this car if it's possible to reverse polarize the lamps)

Second - go to History and look at the records that are date-stamped with 2024-02-02 . Revert ALL coding changes back to "old value" and then try clearing the faults. If after doing this, the error still remains - post-up screenshots of Leuchte25KZL HA59. To be clear, i need to see ALL 19 x adaptation channels in your pictures

Tried changing first one, cleared codes, no difference, changed second, again no difference.

Was reading another post and came across someone who mentioned the the A3 saloon tailgate wires can shred due to the hinge, im beginning to suspect that although apparently this has an effect on all the lights. The tailgate lights (turn signals and fogs) all work though.

OK - I don't have a wiring diagram for your particular model - but the general arrangement is like this:

As you can see - it's a very simple circuit ("J519" = central electrics module)

So- the B12CA15 - License plate lamp Open circuit/short circuit to B+ error does suggest a physical problem somewhere - and since both lamps "went out", the fault is likely in the upstream part of the circuit.

However, the U101400 - Control module incorrectly coded error is suggestive of an entirely different (non-physical) problem! This fault is clearly related to a coding matter!!
