I got a Golf Mk8 style manual RHD. I can only see the total miles driven when I turn ignition off. I have got the ACC-cruise control and travel assistant off and the miles not shown at all in the cockpit display.I 've seen a few photos of MK8's online that show the milage/kilometers in the cockpit (when you turn off ACC-Criuse control travel assist) but not mine. Car has Software version 1899 Hardware H56.
Can this be turn on via OBDEleven?
Cheers.

I can only see the total miles driven when I turn ignition off. That's the same experience that EVERY Golf MK 8 driver has, no matter what country they bought their car in. There is no trip odometer in the MK 8 Golf. The basic odometer (total miles the car has ever travelled) disappears and is replaced by other icons when the cruise control system is active. If you want to see your total mileage when the car is running, turn off the cruise control. You can't modify any of the above characteristics with OBDeleven, it's just the nature of the vehicle. Mine does not show mileage when car is running and cruise control is off! I’m sure it should show the mileage when you turn off cruise control ,I have see it on LHD cars (in Kilometers not Miles ) online and youtube, hence thought the must be a way to turn it on !

It depends! it's related to the firmware version of the instrument cluster. My car and my colleague's car are the same (same model, same version, same everything , but one year apart. His car cannot display ODO but mine does.
