Hello guys, i want to thank you first of all for the great topics in this forum, it was really helpfull for me to code my car. I bought a used golf 7.5 TDI 1.6 115 HP, with manual transmission. Strangely, it was equiped with Paddle shifter on the steering wheel. At first thought, i suspected that the previous owner has changed the steering wheel for some reason. (The car is equiped with ACC). I tried to open the airbag, dismount some trims on the steering wheel, and took off the paddles (right and left) with a torx srew driver.
When finished, i tried to scan the car, and i found 2 error code :
19 Gateway : B114E96 - static - tiptronic downshift button on steering wheel / internal malfunction B114F96 - static - tiptronic upshift button on steering wheel / internal malfunction
1- if you can enlighten me, how does a manual car was coded with a paddle shifter from the beginin ? 2 - should i put back the paddle shifter ? If not, could you please help me with coding ?
Thank you.

Maybe the PO put a auto steering wheel on and coded it to remove the errors

hmm...... paddle shifters (called E479/E480) are ONLY installed on cars with tiptronic modules. Like you I had assumed that these modules were ONLY installed in DSG type transmission systems. However, according to HERE - "Steering Wheel Tiptronic Downshift Button For Vehicles With Direct Manual Transmission 02E" - go figure!!! Does this car report a module @ address hex02? Please post-up a copy of a SCAN report for this car. If your don't know how to digitize the SCAN report -do this: - Fire-up OBD11 software (no need to connect to the dongle)
- Select Garage (at bottom of Home screen)
- Select the car if you have multiple vehicles registered to your account
- Scroll-down and select History
- Follow screenshots below:
- When you receive the email from the last screenshot above- attach the file to a new post

Hello guys, thanks for your quick reply. @ vwjap, to be honest i was lost to understand what has been done to the car by the previous owner, some specialist (that i don't trust) told me that the ACC steering wheel comes by default with paddle shifters, since the majority of cars with ACC come with automatic transmission (maybe ). @ dv52, first of all, i wanted to thank you for all your contribution in this forum, it'was very helpfull for me by reading others' problems and their solution. Concerning my problem, these error code are recent, it comes only when i took off the paddle shifter. Before that, the car has no error. With further investigation, i found a Tech tip published by VW America, concerning maybe a similar situation, with Tiguan's model : MC-10179132-0001.pdf (120.77 KB) What do you think about that ? Here is the full scan of my car as you suggested : history.txt (12.99 KB) Best regard.

hmm........ OK. so as expected there is NO tiptronic module on this car. However, the Gateway module is complaining about the missing paddle-shifters - so clearly the dataset in the module is expecting a message from these items (I have no idea why this happens).
Interesting, the data suggests that this car was programmed for the paddles - what happened when the paddle shifters were pressed (when they were installed)?

It does nothing at all. Beside, it illuminate in the night like others buttons of the steering wheel.
Well, i tried something and apparently it works. Gateway 19 -> Adaptation -> Multifunction steering wheel control module -> Steering wheel tiptronic Switch -> I have changed the value "installed" to "not installed".
When i did the scan, all the faults were cleared.
Well, i saw some videos of retrofitting a DSG Paddle, and i tried to do the reverse coding.
