Hello: My vehicle is a 2024 Golf GTI, Canadian specification. Complete adaptation channel maps for my car can be viewed here: 2024 Golf GTI 'Performance' 2.0T DRNA. I want to configure the car so that the DRL (Daytime Running Lights) turn off automatically when the parking brake is engaged. I have seen posts elsewhere noting that this can be done using a 'script' from OBDeleven. I have an Ultimate account, so I am not concerned about the cost of using the script, but I would much prefer to accomplish this change manually. Can someone tell me which controller to open and what coding or adaptation channel I need to modify to have the DRLs turn off when the EPB is engaged? Many thanks, Michael

Michael: Hi again!!
Hmm.............. I'm a tad confused !! According to the BCM admap (dated 28 December 2023) that you posted on the "other" forum, your MY24 Golf already has this facility activated!!!
The tweak using OBD11 goes something like this: - Fire-up OBD11 software and connect to dongle
- On the Control Units screen, select central electrics module (the BCM in VCDS speak)
- Scroll-down and select Adaptation
- In the search box, enter "Daytime" and select Daytime running lamps
- Scroll-down the various channels and select Tagfahrlicht Dauerfahrlicht bei Handbremse abschalten (DRLs -Switch off continuous running lights when handbrake is applied)
- Is the setting active ?

Hello again Don:
After much fooling around and investigation, I have figured out why my headlights (note "headlights", not DRLs) stay on when the parking brake is engaged.
I've been doing my work in my garage, which is brightly lit but certainly not as bright as sunlight outside. When I turn the ignition on, the light switch in the car defaults to the AUTO position, and both the headlights and the parking lights illuminate, as shown by illumination of the green annunciators behind the headlight & parking light icons within the light switch.
If I turn the headlights & parking lights off manually using the light switch, the DRLs behave correctly, turning off when the parking brake is engaged.
What I didn't recognize (because the car is so new to me) is that this car does not use headlights as DRLs. Instead, there is a clear plastic band about 1 cm thick that surrounds the four headlights and another clear plastic band that runs across the grille between the headlights. These bands are what illuminates to provide DRL functionality.
We're in the middle of the Northern hemisphere winter right now, with only about 7 hours of daylight each day at my latitude. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to take the car outside during daylight to confirm that the headlights & parking lights do not illuminate in daylight - in other words, that the only illumination at the front of the car during daylight hours comes from those clear bands.
Thank you for the time you spent investigating, sorry for this false alarm.
Michael
