Hello everyone! Basically... One month ago what happened Is that as every day of my Life i opened up the car, jumped into It, turned the ignition on, and there was an error on the Dash, but i drove trough and did not give It all that importance... The error was saying that the rear parking assist was not available at the Moment.
Now its almost two months that the car Is showing the following problems:
The Parking sensors are dead, rear view camera showing no Activity, and also the two bottons on the Dash "P Menu" and "Assist".
Yesterday by using obdeleven i got able to let the camera show up on the screen of the infotainment, which is good, but parking sensors still dead, and i also lose all the different camera angles option which i was able to select from the menu.
Can PLEASE someone help me out! I Will pay someone of you to follow me during the process if necessary!
Many thanks,
Alan

Hi, please post a OBD scan of the car, so we see the errors. As for the sensors, you can check them out with a Digital multimeter to verify if they are dead or not. I would assume you have connection issues (dirt, moisture) in the connection point below the bumper, rather than all four sensors being dead. There are three connections go to each sensor (12V, GND and signal). Check if you have 12V on the power pin in the sensor connector and if the GND pin is connected to the ground.

Thanks for replying! Front sensors are alive (checked with Digital multimeter) but still not showing any signs on the screen, even if they're supposed to be. Back sensors are dead at all.
There's something to be coded i suppose as Also the touch bottons on the dashboard are not working.
I have received the obdeleven Just two days ago and be able to code the rear view camera (missing also there some options as the different views selection), but not able to do a obd Scan. Will search online how to do it

The scan report is not of much help. The "Databus missing message" is really generic and could mean anything. As you have issues with both the PDC and RVC at the same time (DTCs inn both units), you might have wiring issues with the extended canbus (GW pins 6 and 7) or with the Gateway itself. Just out of curiosity, do the park sensors work when you disconnect the camera from the GW?
As for park sensor failure - There are no DTC's for that, which is really weird. As soon as a sensor dies, it flags a static DTC in 76, namely "Short to GND or B+", which cannot be cleared. Did you verify that the sensors work with a multimeter? If so, the issue is the 76 controller itself. Just go and buy a used one from Ebay from the same car - it is plug and play.
As for the not working touch buttons on the dash - these do not have anything to do with the park sensors and you might have a fried infotainment unit. Try to force reset the unit by holding the power button until it reboots. If that doesn't help, try a diagnostic reset from OBD11. If it refuses to reboot, disconnect and recconect the battery to reset everything. If that does not help either, try disconnecting the extended bus lines from the GW and check if that resores the touch functionality. If nothing helps, you are really out of luck.
If you coded something and suspect this as the root cause, use the OBD11 history feature to check exactly what you did and revert everything to the original coding.

For the radio unit i already rebooted It several times. I also updated the software with a USB c Stick to the latest version, thinking that might solve the problem, but that did not solved anything. I also took off the rear bumper and checked the connector, everything's fine over there, no moisture or dirt. What is GW, pins 6/7? Did not understand. Where can i find the extended canbus you are talking about?I did not checked the rear sensors with a multimeter, but in live data ECU76 front sensors are working, showing the distance to a Wall, back sensors are not, the value is "infinite".

Canbus is the physical network (a twisted pair of wires) that connects individual control units to the gateway module (GW) - the car brains. The extended canbus is one of these networks used for driver assistance systems (cameras, radars, IQ light module, park module...). Connections are from the respective pins of each module on the network to pins 6 (CAN-H) and 7 (CAN-L) on the gateway module located above the steering column. If any device on the bus has issues, it can affect the functionality of other modules on the network or bring the network completely down. Usual issues with Canbus devices are shorts from CAN-lines to B+, GND or CAN-L to CAN-H. If you suspect a particular device to cause issues, you can disconnect it from the bus and see if the issue with other devices remains. I had issues with a rear camera module which caused the side radars to fail. In this case, disconnecting the camera restored the radar functionality and I pinpointed the camera module as the root cause for my canbus issues... That said, diagnosing canbus panic events is not always easy and is sometimes caused by a damaged wire or electrical interference to the bus. It might take you a long time to find the root cause.
Disconnecting/reconnecting the battery might help, It resets everything to the ground state and it is easy to try.
As for diagnostics I see two options, a faulty park module or a faulty infotainment module. Diagnosing it on your own won't be easy, you should visit someone with ODIS, which has guided fault troubleshooting which in your case might be helpful. Also, ODIS lists these "Databus missing messages" with more context.

Many thanks for all those informations! By what i understand that GW unit Is collocated nearly at the parking unit...
So,in your opinion, the first try i can do Is to remove PIN 6 (or 7? Or both?) And look if parking sensors working while camera Is disabled.
How am i supposed to remove pins from a connector? Will this be correct?(see YouTube link)
Pretty noob on electronical things, sorry for that!
Another question. If could be the infotainment, with the software update i did, should not I supposed to solve the problem of the touch buttons on the dashboard? It's more valid then a reboot i think
Cheers

Easiest way would be just to unplug the connector at either device (park module or the camera). Get to the connectors and disconnect them. This will cut the power and canbus data to it.
If you disconnect at the gateway, you will lose all devices on the bus at the same time, so you would not diagnose anything.
See if disconnecting devices one by one restores the touch functionality or changes anything.
As for the SW update, if you did not have errors and failures during the setup, I don't see how it could have affected anything. Hopefully, you flashed the right image. But if you restarted the unit, cut power, removed the USB... during the update, it might easily be fried. Restoring with ODIS in that case is possible if the bootloader is still fine.

Not following you anymore there... In a First moment i understood to undo PIN 6/7 at the gateway, then now i Just Need to unplug connector at the parking unit.
What do i Need to do? 😭
Yesterday i tried to reach the gateway module, kind of a Nightmare and i was able to unplug the connector and visibly see the wirings, all good there. Lucky i did not got the time to undo the pins at that time...
Tell me what to do First and i Will do 🙂
No errors during the update, everything's fine, Just a smoothly interface 😁
Edit: disconnected the battery (both positive and negative) and removed the connector from the parking module and removed the connector from the rvc, reattached the battery poles . The touchpad doesnt work.

I really hope that this could help anybody over there which Will run in troubles like i did.
At the end, with a really precious help of another member Who sent me a full Scan of another vehicle equipped with the same hardware units, i Just copied and pasted the codings and now everything works fine. No Need to take the entire car apart and check connectors or wirings. 5F multimedia,19 gateway,76 parking assist Lost all the codings by themselves, maybe because the battery tension was low, so battery replacement and coding needed!
Hope this can help out in the future and Hope i Will not run in that troubles anymore!

Glad your issue was resolved. But, in the future, when seeking help, please admit that coding/adaptations were changed. That way, you can avoid the community loosing time on what is otherwise an easy issue to resolve.
In your case, I pointed out that OBD11 has a history feature and that you can check all the changes made to coding (also see original coding).
Loss of coding and adaptations must be incidental, not accidental. Imagine what would happen if the engine and transmission would loose coding every time your battery voltage gets a tad lower. That just does not happen.
Prior to coding anything, have a backup otherwise you can really be screewed. Especially for 5F.
Be really carefull what you code and never code by heart. Especially for driver assist systems, for which you are liable in case of accidents. Take a look at the brilliant coding list made by n3ooka.
On another topic, flashing anything is very risky on itself, especially if you flash binaries not exclusive to the car. In most cases, the issues with bad flashing can be solved by re-flashing with ODIS, but it is not free (one diag session is 20 EUR and to reflash 75 for example you need 4 diag sessions) and in some cases ECUs need to be replaced.
If you would have fried your 5F (which really could have been the case as touch was not working) your bill could have easily gone >3000 EUR to fix it.

Hello brkica,
I can understand that can sound strange, and maybe someone could not believe it, as you in that case, but i Lost codings on 12th of October, and after several mechanics that could not help me i decided to buy obd11 on December and do it by myself! I did not touched anything, and changed the battery because Is what in a First Time i saw that wasn't working properly (11.3v).
Plus,It Will sound stupid to take off the entire bumpers and dashboard for check wirings if i knew that i do coded something wrong, isn't It? Just go on the obd11 history and repeat the codings backward...What was not working was the touchpad not the touch of the radio.
So, believe me or not, but That's what happened
Just writing a report for someone that May be in my situation in the future 🙂
Why lie? Doesnt make any sense. I should title the thread as "codings losts" and someone Will Say to go onto the history on obd11,repeat the codings backwards and everything should be fine. Not my case, you don't know me and that's clear, simply not lying here.
Let's change the rules... You are a regular person using your caddy for going to work and go out with your MTB,one day that happens to you and you don't know why and what to do... What Will you do? I did that thread for help purposes, and now I'm a liyer, great! 😂
However need to understand how to change some final touches that were different two months ago. For example the PDC activation sound

Well my friend, VW always finds a way to surprise 😂 Glad your issue was resolved and you could sort it out without being pricey. At the end it is good that it wasn't a HW issue, finding issues there and in cabling, can indeed be a nightmare.

I was unlucky to have that problem and lucky to solve it without hardware issues! I really hope That's not going to happen anymore, It was a nightmare to me that i'm not so good with elecric things!
Many thanks again for helping!!!
