Not sure where to post this question to the OBDeleven team - wonder if there's an ETA regarding implementation/enabling of VIM to MMI software version 1118 (B9s manufactured 6/17)? I know it works with prior versions (which is awesome), but I am left out for now since mine is a 1118 version.

I did try (because I did not know mine version was 1118) - There was a disclaimer saying it did not work with version 1118 and another one (don't remember now). I only realized it didn't work after I have "enabled" the function and VIM did not work. My mistake. But I know it works on other versions perfectly and I am sure they are working on 1118, but I'm curious for an ETA.

I cant find the article but I have seen that Audi (VAG Group) have disabled the ability to make this change.
If you check out VCDS sites you will see the same question being asked so until somebody finds a work around afraid I don't think on the newer cars you will be able to turn it on.
I suspect that in a lot of countries this is illegal and Audi (along with the rest of the VAG family in time) are just covering themselves.

The only reason I bought obdeleven was to enable video in motion. Unfortunately I bought the dongle, I bought units and nothing happens. I have version 1106. Do we expect something new from your team? Or we spent money for nothing? |

Firstly lets get something straight I don't work for OBD11, I am a user trying to help other users get the most out of OBD11 and car's (eg sharing information).
OBD11 don't promise it can do the impossible it just tells you it can make changes to your car (which it can do lots and lots)
You can look at the VIM app and it will tell you what versions of the firmware it does not support and perhaps you could share the info for other users.
You don't need to buy any more credits as i am sure you are aware in your research of this tool you get free daily credits and if the apps don't work then you can (subject to it being allowed by VW Group) always find the code somebody else has shared and do it yourself.

minovg if you open the app there is some text (I have different car so mine is not relevant) that tells you a) in some countries this is not allowed because its illegal. b) The app does not activate video playback it only removes the restriction whilst moving c) You must FULLY restart your multimedia unit for the change to work d) The app (to update) does not work if you have the engine running and maybe on your car some other options as well so please read it fully. Based on this post forum.obdeleven.com/post/12266The App to disable VIM states it does not support either 1117 or 1106. and I understand you have 1106 so it does not work on either 1117 or 1106 as the text only mentions these two I have to presume that other lower versions do work. |

According to the app:
ATTENTION
This app is not working on 2018 models which have MID unit with software version 1116 and newer.
Version can be checked by going to Multimedia (5F) > Info > Software number
Take care, some laws do not allow this and it can be very dangerous if the driver is distracted with video so use extreme caution.
After activation multimedia must be restrated.
This application do not activate video playback, it only remove restriction while moving
REQUIREMENTS
Multimedia unit must be fully started. so make sure that minimum 2 minutes passed after startup.
Use this app only if you are able to watch videos in still stand and it locks when you start driving
This app doesn't work with engine running.
I have not heard that anybody has managed to crack the fix Audi put in place to stop you doing it.
I guess that it may be possible using VCP but again not heard anything about VCDS or OBD11.
Happy to be proved wrong.

Don't know but if you check the details the first one says
NOTE
For Audi only until MJ 2017
The second one says it supports 2018 (on specific cars) but I would ask the seller (as he is the one who would have to give you your refund if it done work).

Well in that case you pay the large sum of money they want plus vat (if you guys pay that) and shipping and if it does not work you ask for a refund and return the dongle as not fit for purpose. It appears they have a way round the Audi block and are charging you accordingly.
