I had to replace my manual HVAC module and I’m unable to get it to do a compressor first run in. I’m able set the flaps in basic settings but when I try to do the run in it seems to want to start but nothing happens. The ac light in the car will start flashing but my screen never says that the process is active. I thought it just needed some time but after 3 or 4 min there was no change. I’ve tried resetting the module and starting over but I’m not sure I’m going about this correctly. Does anyone know what steps I need to take?

Nick: Hi. The instructions below were thieved from another diagnostic device - but I've translated the steps into OBD11 speak. Hopefully they are OK for your purpose
08 Air Conditioning module - initialization procedures
Adapt flap end stops (Necessary when flap motors are replaced, or when initialization is required following diagnosis of faulty motors) Prerequisite: - there must be NO faults in the 08 Air Conditioning module other than Basic Setting errors
Steps:
- Select 08 Air Conditioning module
- Select Basic Setting
- Select and initiate Adapt flap end stops from the list
- Proceed to AC Compressor First Run-In procedure, or exit 08 Air Conditioning module
AC Compressor First Run-In (Necessary when the 08 Air Conditioning module is replaced) Prerequisites:- Engine at idle
- Transmission in Park or Neutral
- Do not cycle the ignition
- Basic setting is completed for the flap motors
- Inside blower motor is switched on
- Air vents fully open
- Load management (like Start Stop) is NOT active
Steps:- Start engine and let idle (~10 minutes)
- Adapt "flap end stops" as described above
- Select Basic Setting
- Select and initiate "Compressor Run In; Automatic Start" from the list.
- The procedure will show completed, but wait a further 120 sec (2 Min) and observe the flashing A/C button light on the HVAC panel
- After the procedure has completed, the A/C light will cease flashing (the fault code will clear when the A/C light sops flashing).
- Exit 08 Air Conditioning module
Note: If Basic Settings reports an error, the 08 Air Conditioning module may need to see the run-time setting for the compressor initialization process re-established before AC Compressor First Run-In can be completed.
If the Basic Setting procedure fails, implement the following extra steps: - Select 08 Air Conditioning module
- Select Adaptation
- Enter "Runtime" into search box and select Runtime for compressor run-in basic setting
- Default value =120 s. Re-enter "120" and implement the (new) setting.
- Repeat entire AC Compressor First Run-In procedure as above
