I am trying to figure out which car models have the same coding (Byte/Bit). Does VAG models within the same platform have the same coding? I mean, if you have the hardware, does coding & adaptations work for all the cars within a specific platform? If so, the Audi Q5 would then have the codings of the MLB platform which includes: - Audi A5 (Typ 8T) 2007–2016
- Audi Q5 (Typ 8R) 2008–2017
- Audi A4 (B8) (Typ 8K) 2009–2016
- Audi A8 (D4) (Typ 4H), 2010–present
- Audi A7 (Typ 4G) 2010–present
- Audi A6 (C7) (Typ 4G), 2011–present
- Porsche Macan (Codename Cajun) 2013–present
The reason for me guessing this is because a Swedish company (eftermontera.se) sells an activation kit for Traffic Sign Recognition and the kit only works on cars within the MQB platform.

From the coding that i have the Seat Leon MK3, Golf MK7, Audi A3 and skoda octavia 5e (MQB Platform) share lots of common coding.
The Caveats for this are:
1) Late 2016 VAG Changed the system, all the cars still share common coding but in this year range there are different codes according to what setup you have.
2) Even though they share lots of common code there are variations, for example the Leon allows you to change the door color scheme but the Golf does not as the wiring configuration is different and there will be lots of other differences.
3) Us models have different lighting setup and I have seen some differences on Japanese Golfs recently (again this is how the car is setup).
With regards to the Traffic Sign Recognition on my 2014 car I was able to code this but you do need to have the correct camera and must have sat nav from memory (as it uses both from the sites i have seen). Also from what I have read there are some countries (Brazil was the last one I saw) where the system is not able to read the traffic signs, I suspect Europe is fine.

It's a jungle out there. From what I have seen the TSR may work without NAV but not without MMI or at least the control unit 5F (if not the same thing). I have more or less given up on it.
