Hi all I retrofitted the led rear lights to my partners golf. Everything was working as it should after I followed the coding instructions. A few weeks ago some scumbag smashed her rear window. Once we had the window replaced the rear fog light now stays on even when the car is off and locked. I have checked the wiring harness and the does not appear to be any damage at all.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening? Can this be sorted by changing the coding?
Any help would be appreciated

Ben :Hi , Yes- there are many "scumbags" in this lonely blue planet and alas some of them are focused on smashing stuff!!
Hmm......... AFAIK, there are currently 8 x different version Golfs produced by VW and within that stable there are a number of sub-versions. I'm not familiar with every Golf option - but I don't believe that a coding problem could result in the behavior that you describe. Of course I'm guessing - but based on very scant information - the only electrical part of a rear window replacement is the 3rd Brake light and its wiring harness (I don't know if this car also has a rear wiper?). Does the 3rd brake light work correctly?

Hi Don,
Thank you for your response.
Sorry for the lack of information. Pretty new to all this. The 3rd brake light works as it should. The car also has a rear wiper

Ben: Hi again.
As I have said -it's very unlikely that a fault that has been caused by the replacement of a rear window can be resolved through a coding change! It's far more probable that the issue here is the result of a physical problem (IMO, of course) I've had a look at the route of the wiring loom for the rear fog light. At least on Rest-of-World model mk7s (I'm not sure if this is a Yankee car), the rear fog-light wire starts on a pin on the central electrics module (which lives under the dashboard) and it eventually terminates on a pin in the rear tail-light fitting. However, en-route this wire also terminates on a coupling point that lives on the rear lid - which the wiring diagram calls "THK".
Maybe remove the trim from the rear lid and eyeball the wires and the connections on THK - see below. Again for RoW models, the rear fog-light wire is terminated on pin #10 on the THK connectors.
