Do 2014 Beetles need to have a battery adaptation? I recently changed out the battery on my 2014 beetle and the dashboard lit up, so I looked into battery adaptations through the OBD11 app on IOS, under gateway (19) adaptations there were no options available for battery adaptation. Is there another control unit that I should be looking under? Or do they just not need it?

zakkyzebra : Hi. Your MY14 Beetle will almost certainly NOT have adaptation channels with the words "battery" in the Gateway module. This is because your Beetle will NOT have modules that use the newer type UDS/ODX protocols. I'm fairly sure the a MY14 Beetle will have older style modules that do NOT use text based names for adaptation channel - instead, these older style modules use numbers to identify channels
So, if I'm correct - battery coding happens in the # 04 channel in the Gateway module. The nomenclature and the format for data entry is strictly controlled - you can find details in my response HERE (the code that is used to enter the new battery details assumes that you installed a BEM compliant battery)

Battery adaptations for 2014 Beetles are typically not required. If there are no options under gateway adaptations, your vehicle may not support this feature. Check your owner's manual or consult a VW specialist for confirmation.
