Been trying to resolve a thrashing noise coming from the engine sounding like a clicking sprocket or spokes from a bicycle. I initially thought it was the transmission but the noise appears when revving in neutral. My ECP light has been showing intermittently and I have a Turbocharger error (obd11 reading) with a fault code P00AF00.
Here's a link to hear it (sorry for the image but it's the noise thats more important) - you'll hear the thrashing noise more on the winding down.
Any advice how to further troubleshoot before I bring it in to the mechanic? I've read also somewhere that the solenoid in the high pressure fuel pump can be at fault.
Tnx

hmm........ very difficult to be sure because you don't say which particular TSI engine is in this MY15 mk7 - but purely from the error code - it suggests (to me at least) that the waste gate actuator might need looking-at. Again, I making a complete guess about the engine in this car but maybe see if the "linkage" in the diagram below moves freely as the engine is revved. The proper way to check freedom of movement is with a compressor (10-20 psi) applied to the air-hose

ervybaby: Yes, it certainly does sound like a problem in the wategate system somewhere - to me!
