Hey everyone, this is my first post. I and the car are located in Brisbane Australia. I have a 2018 golf r grid edition with the 8in infotainment screen, is there a way to enable Dab radio as I only have FM and AM as options. Cheers and happy Bathurst!

midlife5 : G'day cobber- Bathurst is a fantastic place for petrol-heads!! The answer to your question is that enabling DAB is NOT solely a coding matter (at least for Aussie cars). To explain why, lets start with the wiring diagram - which is like this: So, as you can see- the project basically involves swapping R108 for an aerial that includes a DAB amplifier. This is the aerial set-up on a mk7:
The bottom part of my picture shows the location of the DAB aerial socket on the MIB (the brains for the infotainment system that lives in the glove-box). I suggest that you start the project by removing your existing MIB from the glove-box and physically eyeball the DAB socket to confirm that your unit actually has DAB circuitry. You will need a pair of "keys" for the removal - like this (the keys aren't expensive and you can buy them on Aussie eBay):
And this is a picture showing a comparison of the old FM aerial R108 and DAB aerial amplifier: Notice that the DAB aerial (lower unit) has 2 x sockets at the right-side end while the old aerial (top unit) only has one socket. The existing cable plugs into one of the 2 x sockets - but a 2nd aerial cable (coaxial cable) will need to be installed and plugged into the other socket . The other end of the new coax cable plugs into the DAB socket that is shown on the MIB casing above
Finally, a coding change is needed to the long-code string on the hex5F module to set-up the DAB band. This ain't difficult if you decide to proceed
