sam1098 : I'm not sure that I understand what you are saying - as I read the TBA procedure on the Ross-tech site and for the older non-UDS/ODX modules, all the work is done by the module itself via the basic setting entry. So, other than initiating and eventually closing down the adaptation, the diagnostic device doesn't do much at all!! Here's a translation of the Ross-Tech procedure into OBD11 speak for non_UDS/ODX modules - Turn the key to ignition-on but do not start the car.
- DO NOT TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL
- Select Engine Module @ address hex01)
- Select Live Data
- For cable throttle engines, select group 98 (Note: Some SIMOS or Marelli ECU's use Group 001 such as ADY & AEE engines)
- For Drive-by-Wire Engines using KW-1281, select group 060
- Start the adaptation
- Select Basic Settings. The TB adaptation will commence as soon as you switch to basic settings.
You will see the values change and hear the TB cycle for the first few seconds then it will stop.
- Leave it in Basic Settings for about 30 seconds.
- Select Live Data This completes the TB adaption
Note: This TDA process is not suitable for Drive-by-Wire (DBW) Engines using KWP-2000 or CAN and for Drive-by-Wire (DBW) Engines using KWP-7000 (UDS/ODX)

Hi folks. I have a MK4 R32 and I tried to do the throttle body adaptation. I can hear the throttle clicking and going through it’s adaptation, however I keep getting error on mg screen. I’m running the latest update as well. I have OBD Eleven pro.

I can hear the throttle clicking and going through it’s adaptation, however I keep getting error on mg screen. I don't have a solution to your issue othr than borrowing a copy of ODIS or VCDS. What I'm curious to know is: What is the time delay before you first hear the motor doing something and you getting the error message? I'm wondering if the process actually completes, but it doesn't report this correctly. Does the car idle and drive fine after the process? Also, can you confirm if the Live Data values seem consistent with the pedal movement?
