I’ve just received my OBDEleven and when using it on my car it requested vin entry instead of automatically identifying.
Vehicle 2000 VW GTI Using IOS 16.3.1 App shows up to date (no update available on App Store)
I’m able to scan and use the functions after vin put in but still isn’t identifying engine, trans combination and not sure what else. That’s just the first things I noticed. Clears and reads codes and looks to allow me to tinker in the systems but would like for it to give me all the data.
I’m new to forums as well but did search automatic identification as well as automatic vehicle identification and everything was in foreign languages or crashed loading.
I own another vehicle (2004 jetta) to try it on but it’s a few hours away at the moment as I leave it at work and use the company vehicle to come home on the weekends.
I appreciate any help y’all got.

hmm........... odd! I'm guessing - but clearing the App cache has sometimes worked to stop similar problems in the past. Of course there is no "formal" way to do this if you are using iOS - nevertheless there is a couple of ways of achieving the same thing on an iPhone: - Turn OFF/ON (using the side buttons) has the same impact
- Use the OffLoad function : Settings -> General ->iPhone storage ->Select App -> Offload App -> confirm -> Reinstall App
