So I bought Vland Taillights for my 2019 GTI SE (with lighting package) so I’m pretty sure it has LEDs.
Me and some friends got it installed and it worked. I did get the warnings saying check left and right brake lights. But they worked fine.
Anyways I got my an OBD11 through a friend and attempted to “code” my new taillights as they are supposed to have “Dynamic Turn Signals.
So I followed some instructions online and they wrecked my taillights it was all messed up and the blinkers would both flash at the same time and the rear fog light was on when I turned my blinker on. But I just got that resolved today. So now when I use my turn signals they blink fine, expect, they don’t do the little alternating blinks anymore, which is fine because what I really want is to have the dynamic turn signals not the blinking lights.
I’ve seen that Don is very active and knowledgeable regarding this so I was wondering if he knew anything about this.
Also I have another question. Is it possible to code the front headlights turn signals to be dynamic as well? My side view mirrors have dynamic lights (they go from the inside to the outside slowly)

hmm........... so if the tail lights are THESE, then yes they are LED. What were the type of taillights on this car as factory built?
As for your question about operating the front turn signal in dynamic code - the answer is NO! Dynamic turn signals need "LED chaser" circuits built into the light fittings. So dynamic turn-signal mode on the front lights is an equipment deficiency - it's NOT a coding limitation

Hey thanks for taking time to answer Don, I don’t think it’s possible to include pictures on here. But they weren’t the double Us they were like stripes from left to right. If you were to look up 2019 GTI lighting package tail lights US/NA model it should show the right ones.
They were LED though if that was the question.

......... I don’t think it’s possible to include pictures on here.................... Hmm........... yes, posting pictures and other attachments is allowed on this forum!! So, you don't say how you are accessing this forum - I will assume that you are using an iPhone.
When you log into the forum, you will be presented with the Home page - scroll down to the very bottom of this page. At the bottom, you should see a navigation bar with a left-pointing triangle "Back" and an upward pointing triangle "Top" on the left-side. On the right-side of this bar you should see "Dashboard" and "Desktop"; Select Desktop. Now when you select the Reply tab on a post, you should see a range of text- editing options including "Add image to post" and "Add attachment"

So the one on the car are the stock ones I replaced and the one on Amazon are the ones I bought and just recently installed. And coded wrong. I also attempted to include/ attach a video of the way the tail lights are working right now but it said it was too big. After work today I will take some pictures of the blinkers in action and try to explain what’s happening via text. Attachments:

ok so the picture with two finger is showing the blinking lights and the picture with just one picture is showing the light that used to alternate when blinking, but doesn’t anymore since I messed up with the coding. But again my main goal is to get the dynamic sequential turn signals that would make me extremely happy😂👍🏽

Not sure if you are aware that OBD11 keeps exhaustive records of ALL the changes that are made. These records are stored on the remote servers on the OBD11 mother-ship against your account.
To access these records - go to History and revert the listed changes back to the "old" value. This should get the lamps working as per before you "messed up with the coding"

Yeah the history wasn’t the best but I was able to follow them back and get the blinkers working, just not exactly what I had hoped for when I bought them. I was really hoping for the sequential blinkers. Do you happen to know of a way to make that work?
Thank you so much don.

If you’re unsure about the sequencial blinkers. Do you happen to know how I would be able to get rid of the error code that keeps coming up? It says something along the lines voltage is too low. I’ll attach screenshots when I get back to my car after work.

- Direct OEM Fitment – Full LED bar tail lights assembly Compatible for 13-20 Volkswagen Golf MK7 MK7.5 Hatchback With Stock Halogen Tail Lights.
- Not Fit For Volkswagen Golf MK7 MK7.5 Hatchback With Stock LED Tail Lights
So, are you sure that VLAND "13-20" tail-lights are compatible with this car (as sequential fittings)?

Hey Thanks again Don, I really appreciate you looking into this and trying to help me. well as far as I could tell and what I have seen from them is that as long as the car had LEDs before not halogens it should be able to be coded to do the Sequential Blinkers. As it is shown via picture and in the features photo I included. And then the other photos mention the compatible years for the car that it should fit/ work with. P.S I also ran a wire from the outside tail light up and through the hatch to the inner tail light, So I thought that that was what would eventually allow the sequential blinkers to work together since they were wired together and then with the coding it should work. And I was lucky to find one thing in history to be able to revert it back to stock settings so now the blinkers alternate and work as they did before I messed with the adaptations on OBD11. So thank you for that 🫶🏽 I have seen a few other GTIs do the sequential Blinkers but I can’t really find any videos or anything else for coding especially for these Vlands.

hmm.......... so stuff is becoming very confusing for someone reading this who is remotely situated on a isolated island that's a tad North of Antarctica!!
Your earlier reply was that the the new tails were these:
Your latest advice is that the new tails were these:
Of course your new fittings are NOT OEM. Non-OEM manufacturers use their own (meaning individually different) designs for these retrofit tails. But in general, wiring changes are needed to the car's factory wiring because sequential turn-signals need an added power supply to operate the internal LED-chaser circuits. This also means that the power-supply wire for the outer and inner turn-signal lamps need to be connected together on each car side.
You may have done the inner/outer part of this wiring change - but how the power supply wire from the central electrics module (the source of the 12V supply) is connected to the rear turn-signal can be different for each non-OEM manufacturer.
So, it matters which specific light fittings were installed (because VLAND products are NOT OEM equipment). Maybe contact the seller and get their ACTUAL coding instructions.

I apologize for the confusion Don, so the Amazon picture and the Vland website are the same taillights just different pages with some info. I was attempting to show that it stated that it had sequencial capabilities for the years listed.
And again I’m very grateful. I was informed that I actually need to buy/ and install an additional Harness to even be able to try to code the sequencial taillights.
So I purchased those Harnesses from UroTuning. And I guess I’ll try again after those are installed and hopefully it works.
Thank you.

gholt369: Just a friendly suggestion to make sure that the harness seller supplies the coding change instructions for their product. These harnesses have the result of changing the functional assignment of the Leuchte-sets for the tail-light lamps. This happens because the harness re-allocates the factory terminations in the wiring loom from the central electrics module to the tail-light fittings. The problem is that because these harnesses are non-OEM, each manufacturer is free to design the harness routing points differently. That said, some harness manufacturers do use the design of their competitors - but you need to confirm which design is appropriate for the purchased product. Don
