I found a YT video that showed his Golf windows stopped operation after door opened (ignition off)
he altered this line: (about 5 minutes into it)
Freigabenachlauf_FH_bei_Tueroeffnen:
active
to Not Active. It did work but only till the door was closed and then you needed the key in the ignition again.
I found the exact same entry on my 2019 Polo but presume it will only do the same thing. There is an app on my OBDEleven related to this but not sure if it is the same thing - i.e. work till you close the door. There is not enough information in the description to tell if it is the same thing or not.
I'd be happy if it let you operate the windows at least for a period of time - still as I have the Pro plan I'd rather use that instead of wasting money on credits.
Any advice would be great

grazuncle : Hi: My advice - never use One-Click-Apps because they make changes to your car that are not disclosed!! And more importantly, OCAs rob you of the opportunity to learn/practice manual coding - PLUS OCAs cost you credits. So you lose 3 x times !! Anyhow, if the hex09 module in your Polo has a channel with the same (German) words - I would be very surprised if it doesn't have the same effect on the car windows. In any event - why not try the tweak? The worst that can happen is that the tweak doesn't work as expected - in which case, you can simply revert the channel setting back to its original value! Don PS: I'm not sure about a Polo - but doesn't a long-press of the lock-function on the key-fob automatically wind-up any open window?

As all always appreciate your sage advice...
Yes I agree... I can try it out...
I looked again at the description of the (now I know the acronym) OCA... it does say the windows will work 'for some time'.. The modification in the video stop the windows working after the doors are shut again.. Yes The fob does work on mine but operates 'all of the windows'
It is best to put the often happening scenario on why i would like the windows live... when we go out for the day and park up to eat our snacks sitting in the car it is usually in a car parking lot at the event.. it is invariably hot so you open the windows and sometimes the door. Get the stuff out of the boot or behind rear seats. Someone comes and parks up near so you close the doors while they park and the turn on their music. you now want the windows up.. key in again. They get out and leave so you open the doors again and want the windows down a bit.. key in again. and so on.. it is just a minor niggle that even the OCA may not fix.. LOL
not the end of the world problem I admit.
The key fob idea (thanks..) may be more useful than coding..👍

Well.. I could not find any specific coding to the keep windows live after ignition off..
reluctantly tried the OCA and selected ON pressed the Green Tick and 'nothing'
message No Change. app thinks it is live but no it doesn't keep windows live after opening a door. I'm wondering if this app doesn't do what I think it does and the keep live is not after opening the doors but just live for a time 'before' getting out of the car?

grazuncle : OK - According to my information - a 2019 VW Polo AW 2G 1.6 TDI DSG Highline does have ZV Komfort -Freigabenachlauf_FH_bei_Tueroeffnen. Are you sure that you the channel is not on your car?

Thanks again.. as always
I'll take another look... and get back with the results.
My windows did always work with ignition off till opening the doors... perhaps that's what the OCA was going to do but already set? 🙄

Thanks DV52
A Success!
I got an update and some instructions.
My Polo AW doe have the line you mentioned and the guy in the video mentioned too. I fond it earlier in the histoery.txt file. The major difference was in the application of the adaptation. in the video the windows only worked after ignition off and door open 'just once'. after the doof was closed on the golf they stopped working till ignition on again.
anyway I thought better than nothing 🫤
I just tried the following routine for others if they want to try it..
Fit the dongle put ignition on and connect the OBDEleven app
Select your car from the Garage.
select Control Units then Select Central Electrics in Security Access enter 31347
Select Adaptations
Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select ZV Komfort
look for entry Freigabenachlauf_FH_bei_Tueroeffnen and Tap that line (it will probably state 'Active)
Select Not active
then press and hold Green Tick
to my utter surprise the windows carried on working (all four) after door shut and ignition still off.
Glad you encouraged me to stay with it ... Thanks

Update
After successfully keeping the windows operable.. I came to use the remote fob to open the car windows a little from inside the house as it is nearly 30c outside and god knows what the temperature is inside of the car.. and not able to operate remote windows from the fob. Hmmm.. Has my my adaptation ruined the comfort windows function?
I did look at a YT video and there are a lot of steps to switch this feature (remote operation of the windows from the fob) on.. which I carefully wrote down.. then I noticed on this guys golf he had to enable comfort windows from the car display unit.. Car/setting/open closing.
before messing with anything else I thought I'd have a look and sure enough the option was now OFF!..
I set it to ON and 'ALL windows' and we're back in business. Phew!
