Hello

I have a EU spec 2019 Golf Mk7.5.
I replaced my EU halogen headlights with NA halogen headlights 5GM941005C/006C.

Does anyonne know if it's possible to turn on the amber side marker (without having to change the wiring) as shown in the attached photo ?
I have also attaching the wiring diagram of my original headlights.

According to the diagram (and having found that this cable was physically present), slot 10 (M34) is pre-wired but does not power anything in my original headlight.

hmm......... according to your wiring diagram the Leuchte-sets that control pin #10 on the headlight connector are:

Leuchte2SL VLB10 (left-side lamp)
Leuchte3SL VRB21 (right-side lamp)

If this car has an actual wire terminated on the central electrics module as per your wiring diagram, then the 2 x Leuchte-sets above will have the setting on the Lasttyp channel that is NOT nicht aktiv .

If the setting is NOT nicht aktiv then post-up screenshots of Leuchte2SL VLB10

The setting is not "nicht aktiv".

What I was able to observe while making adaptations on Leuchte2SL VLB10 (left-side lamp) & Leuchte3SL VRB21 (right-side lamp) is that these leuchte control the LED daytime running lights.

loxwil : hmm.........OK - look at your wiring diagram. Notice V49 which is Right headlight range control motor, This headlight is intended to operate with a Range control module @ hex55.

I suspect that your original halogen was a low-level halogen fitting that didn't need range control. Does the DRL work properly on the new US headlights and how have you connected the range control module?

My stock EU halogen factory fitted headlights are 5G1941005D/006D (see photo) with a range control module.

I couldn't find the exact same NA spec model in good condition in Europe.
So first I found the two halogen NA spec headlights mentioned in my first post. (These are only 6 pin, slot 4, 5,6, 8, 9,10)

My goal would be to get the look of a NAR spec Golf 7.

(I already installed the NA taillights with the side marker and multi-purpose stop lights + OBD coding and the result is perfect (I can describe the procedure if it can interest someone in the future)).

I haven't made the electrical connection yet (this car is in the garage) so I didn't test yet the DRLs but I was thinking of powering the front side markers with the power from my DRLs and code them.
I cannot connect a range control module in the NA headlights that I bought so I will no longer be able to use the height adjustment when these headlights are on the vehicle. (I keep the original parts to exchange the day I will sell this car).

If more photos are needed I can provide them.

In EU, according to ECE regulations, yellow light forwards is currently only permitted for fog lights, exception: vintage cars. So headlights and daytime running lights must shine "white".

Only as a well-intentioned hint that you are not building a "legal problem".

As you can see the coding is the same as your EU set-up (don't worry about the different sequence of Leuchte-commands - the lighting is the same)

I suggest that you make the electrical connection for the front headlights and try the lamps without making any changes

I'm not sure about falcon point -I can make these lights operate as fog-lights (the position of these lamps is too high on the car to be real fog-lights). On RoW halogen headlamps without the yellow lamps - the lamp for the DRL is in the main-beam position - but it has a dual filament lamp to separate DRL and main-beam functions

I suspect that the NAR headlight doesn't have a dual filament lamp on the main-beam position - so if you change these lamps to fog-lights, you won't have DRLs

Maybe (not sure) my "position" lights which also make the DRLs act (on the European model). What do these "Leuchte" control on a "Yankee" Golf .

As for the NAR headlights they have a dual filament lamp H15 12V15/55W, which i guess will be powered by pin39 (high beam) & the pin 4 (DRL) so if i'm not mistaken i should always have DRLs. If I'm wrong, your comment is welcome.

It is indeed a vehicle that circulates in the EU.

The NA headlights will light the same way as the old ones because they are both halogen.

On the NA headlights that I have purchased, these are also equipped with daytime running lights (H15 12V 15/55W bulb) as on the first generation Golf EU MK7.

The purpose of the conversion is to have the amber front side marker lights.

The ones that a lot of people usually want to turn off but I like this look.

As far as I understood the thread creator, he wants to put the "yellow" side lights into operation. As far as I know, this is not permitted in the EU according to the ECE regulations, except for fog lights, which cannot be the side lights according to the definition and light orientation. In any case, in Germany, my home country, amber lights on the front of the vehicle are only allowed for fog lights. Hence the question about his home country

My contribution should therefore only support the creator of the thread to the extent that approval problems can arise in his project.

I hope, he has the best of luck with the technical implementation.

hmm......... When you read the descriptors for the headlight lamps on the VW wiring diagram, it's important to differentiate the "lamp position" on the headlight fitting from the "Lighting function" that is allocated to the lamp! The two are entirely different things!!

Yes on the VW wiring diagram, M34=Front right side marker bulb and L175=Right daytime running light bulb. However, these descriptors indicate nominal "lamp positions" rather than "lighting functions".

Look at the values that you posted earlier for Leuchte2SL VLB10 - see how there are multiple "lighting functions" for this ONE Leuchte-set which controls a single pin on the hex09 module -and therefore which controls a single "lamp position" on the headlight fitting.

Leuchte2SL VLB10 is the Leuchte-set that controls M34 on the wiring diagram. Yes, the wiring diagram calls this a "side marker bulb" - but in addition to the Parking-light (you call this a "side-marker") lighting-function - this lamp is also programmed with the following "lighting functions": DRL, Single Side Parking Light", Fog light and DRL wink. So, the wiring diagram descriptor is really only a nominal descriptor!!

hmm........ not really!! According to the values in your earlier screenshot for Leuchte2SL VLB10 -"DRL" is just ONE of many lighting-functions for these lamps

Look at the Lasttyp setting in your screenshot for Leuchte 4TFL LB4.

Lasttyp 4 = LED Tagfahrlichtmodul Versorgung = LED daytime running light module supply

This setting tells you that this Leuchte-set establishes the electrical parameters for the power-supply for the DRL circuits inside the headlight fittings. So Leuchte 4TFL LB4 & Leuchte 5TFL RB32 do NOT control specific lamps - they are used to control the DRL power-supply control-module which lives inside the headlight housing.

This arrangement is entirely consistent with the VW wiring diagram that you posted earlier. Notice that pin #4 on the headlight is NOT connected to L175

hmmm....... are you sure that the NAR has a "dual filament lamp H15 12V15/55W"? I very much doubt this because the headlights on this car use LED type DRL lamps - see the lasttyp setting above (notice "LED" in the setting name)

The NAR headlight has indeed a dual filament lamp H15 12V15/55W. The headlights I could find in Europe are 5GM941005C/006C. As the picture below.

I will make the electrical connection to test it and code the Leuchte sets as described :

If I understood correctly and that I want for example still want to have DRLs I can control pin 4 (L175) with the Leuchte set "Leuchte 5TFL RB32" to act on the 15W filament of the H15 bulb ?

Is it a problem that this Leuchte set should normally control an LED module on my original headlight and that it will now control the function of a halogen bulb ?
Finally isn't it a problem that cable 32 coming from the J519 computer will now supply a 15W halogen bulb?

I'm not sure how the 15Watt filament in the H15 lamp is connected on this headlight fitting. As I have already said, "cable 32" on J519 is coded in the Leuchte-set as a power supply function- meaning that it's NOT programmed to operate a lamp. Perhaps the filament is connected internally - I don't know. I suggest that you see what happens when you install the new fittings

What I hadn't thought of is that there's too much body modification to do now, fender, bumper plus paint, (I was too busy thinking about electrical connections

So it's better that I find the headlights of the same generation even if those are more expensive but despite being basic, they are rare around here.
