Looking for some help with my 2017 Canadian Sportwagen. I installed DEAUTOKEY LED bulbs in my 3 available positions on each side(Sportwagen also has a lower light bulb) on the left and right outer lights). I love the brightness of the new bulbs but want it to be more clear when I am braking or signalling. I would like both inner and outer lights to illuminate when braking, and for both inner and outer lights to illuminate when signaling. I have found some adaptations online but they seem to only exist for GOLF/GTI/R. If somebody could help me finish the adaptation instructions that would be awesome. Here is what I have. What I think I am missing is the part that addresses the lower light on the outside. Without proper coding it won't blink or brake in the same pattern as the others. Any help would be appreciated. I know what the light is called from viewing some charts for Kencha tails that have Sportwagen specific info, but I need help with what changes to make to mimic the changes found on the VCDS thread below. Link to the google sheet I am using for reference - goo.gl/s0iIpeFrom "VCDS AND WHAT CAN I DO WITH IT" on the MK7 forums.

bocesco: I'm not familiar with the tail lights on Canadian cars. Are they like this: Don Hello Don, yes they are. I tried following the guide posted above but it seems a little incomplete. On the driver side, when the inner bulb is assigned as brake/tail/signal, the signal over powers the brake and running light, but on the passenger side, the inner bulb signal blinks on and off instead of maintaining a dim light between signals. So the two sides are not coded equally. I decided to return the coding to stock until I have found the correct values for each tail section. I have found lots of instructions for coding the 5 brake light, but not for using the inner bulbs as running light, brake light and signals as well. What I'm trying to achieve is that both inner and outer turn on and off completely between signals, even if the running lights are switched on. This gives more contrast, as overpowering the running lights is not distinct enough in my opinion.

To be more specific, my bottom bulbs on the outside tail light assembly is red, like the main U of the same assembly.

If I'm correct, then why not simply replicate the existing left outer settings onto the left inner Leuchte-set and the same for the right side of the car? Don PS: Here the yellow lower lamp is used as the turn signal - how is the red lower lamp used in Canada?

It has been a long time and I'm now going to try and pick this up again. In the meantime, I enabled 5 brake light mod and left the rest of the settings as is. In north america, the lower lamp on the left and right side is a red bulb, and behaves exactly like the upper outer lights. What I would like to achieve is for all three Leuchte sets to light up when braking (which they do now, since I did the 5 brake light mod), and when signalling. What I want is for them to light up in a syncronized way, completely going on and off with no transitions, like in the video below, but also including the lower outer lights too. I have created a chart that compiles some coding that I have found on the web. I'm wondering if I can apply the same coding from the upper outer lights to the lower outer lights to have them sync up? MY chart is here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oQqD-_PMffwfWmTXqw3CMSZ9Ot8zdRdZVluzJkmMq7U/edit?usp=sharingI have also found this page which also has some coding for what I believe is the same thing. The only thing I think it's missing is the coding for the lower outer lights. Any help you can provide with filling in the coding for the lower outer lights would be much appreciated. Thanks Francesco SaveSave

Ok, I have a related problem.
I have the tail lights working properly. However, my turn signals (the lower amber lights in bocesco's picture above) come on when I apply the brakes. I want them to only be active as turn signals. I need to know which light function to alter. I don't want to go hunting to try and figure out which one is the amber lights.

Again, if you want the lower "red" lamps to mimic the outer tail lights, then simply apply your existing settings for Leuchte20BR LA71 to Leuchte18BLK HLA60 (left side of car) and apply the existing settings for Leuchte21BR RC8 to Leuchte19BLK HRC31 (right side of car) Note: don't change any settings for these channels on any Leuchte-sets: Lasttyp Lampendefektbitposition Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC Don

That was it!
Light Function B18 and B19 were both set to Brake Light (Bremslicht). I'm not sure why it was set this way though. I don't recall touching 18 and 19 and it's not in my history.
None the less, it's much better now!

Hey Don,
Currently I haven't done any coding to my tail lights except for enabling the inner lights to function as brake lights. At the moment, the lower outer lights do function the same as the upper outer lights. What I'm trying to achieve is to make both sets of outer lights and the inner lights all function together as a turn signal just like the YouTube video I linked to.

What I'm trying to achieve is to make both sets of outer lights and the inner lights all function together as a turn signal just like the YouTube video I linked to. bocesco: OK, lets try doing it this way - there are two sets of instructions below; one Leuchte-set is for the left side of the car and the other is for the right side of the car. I've "manufactured" these Leuchte-sets by taking the factory settings from a standard American mk7 Golf (i.e. NAR model) and then I've cleansed the channel descriptors of their Leuchte-numbers to make them generic. If the settings below are applied to a lamp, it will operate as Brake, Turn-signal and Parking light (I think Americans call this "side-light). So if you apply the same settings to the outer lamp, inner lamp and the lower lamp, they will mimic one another. I think this is what you want Don Apply to the Leuchte-sets on the left side of car:- Leuchte20BR LA71 (Outer tail-lamp)
- Leuchte23SL HLC10 (Inner tail-lamp)
- Leuchte18BLK HLA60 (Lower tail-lamp)

- Leuchte24SL HRA65 (Inner tail-lamp)
- Leuchte19BLK HRC31 (Lower tail-lamp)

Thanks Don! I will try this tonight and report back. Just to confirm, this will make the signals turn on and off completely between flashes, and work well with DEAutoLED's?
Thanks for everything that you do! Your support is very much appreciated.

Thanks for everything that you do! Your support is very much appreciated. Bocesco: Well........... I don't know 100% that my tweak will work - it's untested. So, you will have the singular honor of being the first person to try it! But, I reckon that the tweak should work (from what I think I know about Leuchte programming). My suggestion is to test each lamp as you make the changes: change the settings in a particular Leuchte-set, then try the lamp for Brake, Blinker and side light function. If everything is OK - move to the next Leuchte-set. If you have any problems, revert to the old settings. I'm only a forum post away!! Don PS: I wasn't aware that you had replaced your incandescent lamps with LEDs. In this case, you might be better using the following setting: Lasttyp > 35 kombinierte LED Blink-Bremsleuchten

Can you check this by tracing wires? Also, what is the setting for Leuchte19BLK HRC31 lasttyp 31? Don

Don--standby I'll be doing some investigation this evening--thanks for the reply and support! My car is typical US model where you are correct as stock the outer brake light and turn signal function as one entity. I found this video to represent US stock versus what I'm trying to do. I was successful in getting the inners to function as brake lights so that is a positive step and means my car will at least take some coding :

Hey guys, stumbled upon this thread searching for coding and thought maybe y’all could help. I have the MK7 euro tails and they’ve been on the car and coded for 16 months(local guy coded via VCDS when I bought them from him), I just purchased and installed and coded the amber harnesses but I still can’t get my inner brake lights to turn on(not with the lights on, nor from braking), any ideas how to get these to function like the outers? I would like them to be on with the outers when the lights are on and get brighter when braking. Thanks in advance!

Euro LED tails? Or incandescent?
Which harness, BEC or DAP?
So the inner runner/brake lights don’t function at all?
Are you in North America?

NA car, Euro tails, DAP harness, coded via OBD11, had a pin in the wrong spot and just repinned that, but I think I messed with too many coding parameters and everything is out of whack now. The inners have slight functionality now but what I need is the coding parameters for all four tails so I can redo that portion.

fencesitter: Hmmm..... short answer is YES. Longer question is why would you want to turn-off the turn-signal lights? And isn't the car breaching your local road rules without operating rear turn-signal lamps? Don

Bringing this up: I’m trying to accomplish what the Irishman has in the video he posted. I’ve got amber signals in my NAR 2015 GSW. I’ve followed this coding linked here. www.vwvortex.com/threads/obd11-tail-light-question.9502044/post-115539718The turn signals operate by themselves as I would like. However they still come on while using brakes. The Irishman said he needed to change a couple of parameters but didn’t specify which ones. And the documents linked in the video aren’t available anymore.
