Does anybody know how to activate Traffic Jam Assist on an Australian MY17 Passat, which has the following systems as standard? - Adaptive cruise control - Front assist - Lane assist - Side assist I think all the required sensors are installed, so it should just be a coding change...

You may have to pester VWA as I think it's a software change (a couple of guys in New Zealand have had it added and the others looking at their scans see that as a difference)

Saying that, the guy who had it done had a new firmware in one of the modules which was software v 271, mine has 231 and TJA is working so maybe just coding

I've just been playing around with TJA. I seem to have enabled it, and it works. However, get error when adding Adaptive Lane Guidance to car menu.
Control unit: 13 Adaptive Cruise Control Long Coding: Assistent_for_traffic_hold_up: activated Traffic_jam_assistant_in_car_menu: activated Traffic_jam_dependent_linear_tracking: activated Control unit: A5 Front Sensors Driver Assistance System Long coding: Point_of_intervention: early
To add Adaptive Lane Guidance to Car Menu, Point of intervention needs to "early (in car menu)" setting, I get an error when trying to set, and "Early" is the only one i can set. Must be another setting I'm missing though
Car: 2017 Passat 206TSI Country: Australia
Hope this helps, hope fully someone knows what I am missing
Thanks

See here: obdeleven.proboards.com/thread/5314/activation-traffic-jam-assistTJA is not a coding, nor an adaption feature. It only needs correct parameters to work, which is a job for the VCP tool. The A5 camera is the only control unit which needs new parameters. Playing around with the 13 acc is not neccessary and will not bring TJA

Yeah, thought I had it ages ago, but no go. From what I understand, its a parameter change.

Quick with OBD11: From factory TJA is coupled with Emergency Assist (EA without TJA does not work). Just check the Emergency Assist setting in A5. Emergency Assist is enabled when this is set to EA_Variant_2 Slower: Enable Adaptive Line Guidiance, Set ACC to a speed below 60km/h and start driving. Without TJA, LaneAssist will stop working at exactly 59km/h, while with TJA the driven speed does not matter, as long as ACC is enabled. It does not matter if you are really in traffic, but this helps. However, you can see TJA working even with no traffic at all (tried this at a container terminal some months ago)

Hi,
I have Passat B8 MY2015 with ACC and 6K3 Front Assist incl.
city emergency brake for ACC low, and PAD Adaptive Cruise Control ACC up to 160
km/h and ambient traffic monitoring "Front
Assist" with City Emergency Brake, bur i can't find controler A5 in OBD11. There is a camera at the mirror in the windshield. Could anyone have any idea?
Thanks

There are two types of cameras: One is directly attached to the windscreen (recognizable by a triangle-shaped cutout in the rear-mirror region) and one which is just in rear-mirrors foot. While the triangle one is capable of lane assist, dynamic light assist, sign recognition and therefore TJA, the much smaller mirror-camera is only capable of light assist, as there is no image recognition at all installed there and no functions can be enabled.
ACC and Front assist do not need any camera assistance, it's all done by the front radar.

This means, if the OBD11 is not showing the Control unit, then he not here?

Technically: Yes. It's reading the Gateway's list of control units. The Gateway will throw an error is this list mismatches the cars configuration.
Practically: Have a look at your car. The camera can been seen easily. Do you have any of the three features I mentioned earlier? If not, no camera built in.

It needs a firmware update to the front camera.
I just spent $500 with VW to get all of my firmware updated and they sent me back a car that was the same as I have it too them, some 3 weeks later.
I should have invested in at other cable that can do it instead of being stuffed around once again by Austral. (whoops did I just drop there name, my bad)

Sorry for the late answer: Entirely correct. You need another set of parameters for A5 for TJA. You need VCP or ODIS-E to upload parameters. While VCP comes with a database of parameter sets and is fully legally to buy, ODIS will be a pirated copy and does not have parameters boxed...

So newtyYou are saying, that allthough the car has ACC and Lane Assist, it is not posible to program Emmergency Assist and TJA with the OBD11 ? Or did I misunderstod somthing ? (Sorry, I am all new to this)

Right. TJA is controlled by the Parameter File of the camera. OBD11 does not provide access to this and does not come with parameter files to upload. You can not read the parameter file, it is upload only.
A legal copy of VCP would be the weapon of choice.

(Sorry, I am all new to this) I did. But only because while retrofitting A5 camera, I bought a used one coming from a '19 Tiguan that probably had right parameters. I only made the right coding. Now I have Lane assist with TJA and Emergency brake assist. The last one is the 1.0 which is the same of the 2.0 except for going in the rightest Lane available while stopping with hazard flashing

Switching lanes should be EA3 - we still did not figure out how to get that working for 100% That feature only went into Arteon with this hardware.
And yes: Thats how we actually found out how to enable it: Somebody installed a used camera in his Touran. The camera already had TJA enabled, he only coded, adapted and calibrated and got TJA :-)
