Key FOB Requires 3 Clicks To Unlock All Doors

Since I bought my 2017 GTI base (years ago), I’ve had this quirk where the FOB unlocks the driver door with one click, a second click causes the lights to flash and a noise as if the doors are trying to unlock, then a third click finally unlocks all doors.
Of course, I should only need to click twice to unlock all doors.

Any idea why this is? It’s not detrimental to operation but has always been a slight annoyance.
