Hello, this is my first post on the OBDeleven forum, so please be gentle!
I have recently acquired a 2020 Golf R, Mk7.5 and love it.
I'm UK based, and have since discovered that this model is much prized amongst relay thieves, and alas mine is keyless entry.
After being promised by the VW main dealer that KESSY would be disabled, they didn't bother, and now won't do it, so I'm struggling . . .
I bought carlyapp on the premise that I could code, but it's pretty much useless, so I have also bought a OBD11 Pro, which seems to be much, much better.
I've delved into long coding, fallen foul of messing up the basic headlight thing, which seems to be a standard rite of passage (the coding suggested that I should turn on headlamp assist, which I did, only throw up error messages and when I turned the thing inactive I still got the errors. Anyway, fixed that, module 4B, reset, all correct now!)
Delving into deactivating keyless on the car, I discovered driver and passenger door modules, and much to my amazement found an option to make the door keyless setting inactive, as I thought it would be much more complicated. Well I did it, changed both door keyless entry settings to inactive, but nothing has changed, the keyless still works.
So - my question to you brainy coders is - what am I doing wrong? Is there something else that I need to set somewhere, or is it just not possible to code the keyless facility out?
Thanks in advance for any help and bright ideas.
Hearty

You can only do the front doors and not the boot, B7-long coding

Two cents from my perspective: The issue is not to get into the car (you can do that with little mechanical effort), but to get the engine running keyless.
And thats something you cannot disable (well, you could remove all antennas for keyless and put the key to the contact point at the steering wheel to start the car).

Thanks for that - I tried it and it works to deactivate the doors, but leaves the boot openable if you have the key near (or a relay - which is what I'm trying to protect against). It seems stupid that you can't deactivate the boot keyless locking, but I can't find anything that works on stopping the boot/tailgate from opening keylessly.
I'm sure I found a thread where somebody had found a way to do it, but can't find it now.

Well once you lock the door with the key fob you then touch the door handle lock it disables keyless entry until you unlock it, I’m sure it’s in the manual

Yep. Depends on the model year. The feature came in MY18 or so.
There is a upgrade procedure to upgrade the firmware for earlier models.
Also, there are some vendors here in Germany selling a RFID 3rd party module as a second mean of protection.
But as said before, nobody stops you from tampering the wiring.
I went - once again - through the adaption and found something which could help. Can you try "Time Sensor Power Off Group 2"? This is set to 3600minutes by default and *should* define how fast the power saving is enabled. You could try to minimize it to 1 minute (or the lowest number possible, but greater than 0) to disable keyless asap, but not at once.

Thanks for that Gents. I have a later model, so it has the facility to touch the dimple after locking with the remote, but I’m trying to disable KESSY altogether. It seems crazy that you can’t disable the tailgate in the same way as the doors. I’ll try the suggestion and let you know if reducing the time out works.
Thanks again for your help.

Ok the other way I have for disabling kessy is central electronics-adaptions, Change this to not installed , This should disable everything BUT you won’t be able to start the car unless you have the key where the ignition switch normally is (like when you get a flat battery) Let me know if it works as I can’t remember if I tried it

Beware! I quickly checked a Passat without Keyless access, but with Keyless start.
It also has Kessy enabled. The ZAT (Zentraler Anlasstaster, central ignition switch) is wired to the keyless control unit. I am unsure if disabling this will also disable the button with it

Thanks again. The car is out at the moment - she who must be obeyed has taken it out . . .
I will try the other things tomorrow.
I'm getting a Ghost 2 fitted next week, had one on the Beamer, and it gives great peace of mind - because you really can't drive it away unless you have the key sequence!
