Hello, has anyone tried to activate Adaptive lane guidance on an Octavia 4 without a capacitive steering wheel?
Does it work correctly - without annoying beeping - hold the steering wheel after a few seconds ?

I can confirm that it works (I did the long coding). After a few seconds the system show the warning and beeps " keep hands on the steering" and if you don't move the steeering it deactivates and a second message " take back control" appears. On the dashboard you will see the lines (left and right) orange and no more green, symptom that the system is in continuous correction, for this the messages then appear

Hi m4gm4. Thanks for the answer, but I'm interested in how it works through the application and without the capacitive steering wheel.

hi, works as written line assist works much better, it runs in the middle of the road lane, but without the capacitive steering wheel, the message about taking over the steering wheel keeps popping up it would be great, if you could turn off the steering wheel message regards

Extende approach:
1. Pop the hood (Edit: Also activate the parking brake)
2. Switch on the ignition. (But not the engine.)
3. Connect OBD11.
4. Enter module [A5 Driver Assistance].
5. Enter [Security access] enter code [20103].
6. Go into Long coding,
7. Search [Point_of_intervention]. (Byte 08 > Bit 5-7 Set to "80 Point_of_intervention,early_setting_over_menu")
8. Change to [early_setting_over_menu].
9. Search [Configuration_for_lane_departure_warning_Kl15]. (Byte 09 > Bit 0-1 Set "03 Configuration_for_lane_departure_warning_Kl15,Last_setting")
10. Change to [last_setting]. This is optional but it makes the car remember last setting, with out this change will Lane assist always be activated when starting the car.
11. Search [HC_advanced_takeover_request]. (Byte 09 > Bit 4-5 Set to "10 HC_advanced_takeover_request,coded")
12. Change to [Coded]. This was coded already in my car.
13. Search [HC]. (Byte 09 > Bit 7 Activate ("HC,0=not_coded / 1=coded")
14. Change to [Coded]. This was coded already in my car.
15. Search [Hc_messages]. (Byte 17 > Bit 0 Activate ("Hc_messages,0=not_coded / 1=coded"))
14. Change to [Coded]. This was coded already in my car.
16. Search [HC_Warn_Intensity]. (Byte 17 > Bit 1-3 Set to "02 HC_Warn_Intensity,Setting_over_Menu")
17. Change to [Setting_over_Menu].
18. Search [Hc_variante]. (Byte 17 > Bit 5-7 to "20 Hc_variante.Variante_1" or "00 Hc_variante.Variante_ 0")
19. Change to [Variante 1 OR Variante 0]. My was Variante 0 so I change it to Variante 1. (I think this is what gave me line assist below 60km/h with ACC active. I will try the other variants to see what's happening.)
19. Exit Long coding.
20. Enter adaptations.
21. Search [Switch-on state Lane Keeping Assistant]. (Module A5 > access authorization: 20103 > Adaption "Switch-on state Lane Keeping Assistant" set value to "on (setting via menu)")
22. Change to [on (setting via menu)]. My car hade this set already.
23. Exit module [A5 Driver Assistance].

26. Search [Vehicle function list BAP] and enter. (Go to "Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-LDW_HCA_0x19" > Set to "activated")
27. Search [LDW].
28. Select [LDW_HCA_0x19] and change it to [Activated]. This was already set on my car.
29. Select [LDW_HCA_0x19_msg_bus] and change it to [Databus Extended]. This was already set on my car. (Go to "Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-LDW_HCA_0x19_msg_bus" > Set to "Datenbus Extended")
30. Exit [Vehicle function list BAP].
31. Search [Vehicle menu operation] and enter. (Go to "Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_Lane_Departure_Warning" > Set to "activated")
32. Search [Menu display Lane Departure Warning] and change it to [Activated]. This was already set om my car.
33. Search [Menu display Lane Departure Warning over threshold] and change it to [Activated]. This was already set om my car. (Go to "Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_Lane_Departure_Warning_over_threshold_high" > Set to "activated")
34. Exit [Vehicle menu operation].
35. Exit adaptations.
36. Exit module [5F Multimedia].
37. Enter module [17 Dashboard].
38. Enter Long coding.
39. Search for [Lane]. This give four settings. (Byte 04 > Bit 6 Activate ("Lane Assistant"))
40. Change [Lane assistant] to [Yes].
41. Change [Lane change assistance] to [Yes].
42. Change [Lane change assistant, BAP distance] to [Yes].
43. Change [Lane retention assistant, BAP distance] to [Yes]. (Byte 11 > Bit 1 Activate "Lane retention Assistant BAP")
(My car hade all this set to Yes already.)
44. Exit Long coding.
45. Exit module [17 Dashboard]
46. Enter module [44 Steering Assistance].
47. Enter [Security access] enter code [19249]. (Module 44 > security access: 19249 > Long Coding >)
48. Enter Long coding.
49. Search for [Lane assistant]. (Byte 00 > Bit 4 Activate ("Lane Assistant"))
50. Change it to [Active]. My car hade this set already.
51. Exit Long coding.
52. Exit module [44 Steering Assistance].
Go back to Home screen and disconnect from OBD11.
Switch off the ignition.
Close the door and hood, and lock the car.
Have a cup of coffee.
Switch on the ignition. (But not the engine.)
Clear all Faults.
Take a test run to get feeling for the changes.
IT WILL WORK BRILLIANT with simple CRUISE CONTROL , however with ACC(adaptive speed) it will prompt for takeover steering wheel...

Hello,
is it possible to extend the time to the warning message? for example, about 60 seconds? It is very sensitive and even as I gently hold the steering wheel, I have a message that he has to take control.

I try with the new values, it doesn't change the problem. Do you activate the adaptive lane guidance in the app? I'm still on. Thanks

I can confirm this app works. Just activated it this morning and tested it on the road as well. Works pretty well. It only activates when it finds lanes on either side of the car.

I tried the adaptive lane guidance one click app (at a cost of 100 credits) on my MY24 vRS and it's completely screwed up lane assist. Although the car does track the lanes, the lane display in the dash is always orange and after a few seconds I get increasingly strident warnings about taking control of the steering, even though my hands are on the wheel.
This app *really* needs to be pulled from the store.
And now I have the issue of trying to undo the carnage, and OBDEleven "support" are anything but supportive.
*Not* a happy customer :-(

So I gave it a try and did the procedure with long coding. For the record, I own an octavia NX 2021 iV (no VRS), no travel pack (just normal lane assist), no capacitive wheel and have the ODB2 Pro. I’ve kept the “ LDW_HCA_0x19_msg_bus to can_fas and LDW_HCA_0x19 to Activated”. The result is very good. I have the menu available on the car assist page and set the wheel to strong. The car stays in it’s lane dead center. The lines are orange and, if not held somewhat solid, the car will signal to hold the wheel. Will work on it when I have time. There were two options that I could not find and will give feedback which two these were, but apparently not important. Thanks for the long code guide!
Edit: I’ve also written down the original setting of my car so I can go back to the original settings.

Yes, including the cup of coffee. I think the warning intensity is linked to the HC_warn_intensity setting together maybe with the HC_variante?

Another update, did a longer drive today and checked what happened if I let the warning go dark red and beyond. Turns out that the adaptive lane assist is deactivated for the entire duration of the drive. Only the normal lane assist is available. There was no way to enable it again mid drive.

Went back to my writings and the options I could not find were ‘ Switch-on state Lane Keeping Assistant’ and the ‘ Lane retention assistant, BAP distance’.
Done some checks: changed the HC_warn_intensity to weak instead of setting_over_menu and the menu in the assistant menu was gone and set it back to setting over menu. The intensity is only for the strength of the wheel so choosing one will always be the default. No option to change unless setting_over_menu is selected.
The HC_variante was changed from 0 to 1 0 or 1: no noticeable difference. Both work just the same. 2 until 7: made lane keeping assist unavailable straight away without starting the car.

Hey @ johnnyx looks like you have old steering wheel if 2-7 turned off Line assist without starting the car

I don’t have the wheel with capacity sensors, I believe is the one you are pointing to correct? Or are there even different versions of the “standard” wheel? I should get one to complete the adaptive lane assist and perhaps the ACC option.

|
|
Post by azehiel on Jan 8, 2024 6:41:37 GMT
johnnyx indeed , for full adaptive line assist you need capacity sensor , however for classic ACC etc there is no need for capacity sensor in steering wheel , you can have older version of it.
