Hello everyone, ive recently purchased my first obdeleven pro. Im from Uruguay and I read this forum a lot, today I decided to create an account because im having issues with an afermarket RVC. Ive upraded from mib1 to mib2 with nav for my gti 2015. Today I installed an aftermarket rvc, tried coding but im getting no image. (mib2 unit i bought is used not new). What i did was: 5F -> Byte 19 -> bit 4 Enable 76 -> Byte 02 -> bit 4 Enable Am I missing something? Wiring seems to be ok because I tried the camera on a different headunit (not vw) and works just fine. When i go into reverse camera pops out but nothing is displayed on the screen. This is what i got: My unit:

Forgot to mention i believe my camera is LOW and I read somewhere that i might check if HIGH version is active on my unit but I cant seem to find where that coding is.

These low version cameras are fairly simple in that they are hang-off the MIB as dumb peripherals. Here's the wiring diagram for the video part of the RVC
"J794" in my diagram is the MIB and the picture shows the connections on the rear of the moodule (it's called a "Quad-connector"). Connector L is Blue.
As you can see it's a very simple arrangement. If the camera gate opens correctly - I suggest that you check the polarity of the 2 x video cable connections. As shown: - The center wire (usually white/clear color) in the video coaxial-cable is terminated on connector L, pin #6
- The screen wire (usually black) around the video coaxial-cable is terminated on connector L, pin #12
Are these terminations correctly positioned - like this?
If so, also check the extra male/female connections on the video cable from the kit that you purchased.

Hey Don, Thanks for the quick reply. Wiring seems ok as I tried the camera on a different radio (aftermarket with android) and works perfectly. Ive just done: Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2: VPS_0x0B > activated VPS_0x0B_msg_bus: > Comfort data bus And now im getting this screen: I feel im close, might have some coding missing.

Done !! I had 2 green wires that I had to join together. This + Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2: VPS_0x0B > activated VPS_0x0B_msg_bus: > Comfort data bus Made it work.

Interesting, so you enabled canbus and it worked on a non canbus camera 🤷♂️ green wires?

Dont really know, the camera came with a green wire coming from the emblem that was split in 2. After the last coding and joining them together it worked 😂

Interesting, so you enabled canbus and it worked on a non canbus camera 🤷♂️ green wires? yes - I'm a tad incredulous too (no offense intended to mushi93)!
As we both will agree and at least on paper. a low-version RVC on a MQB platform car is entirely agnostic about the CAN network. It is NOT connected to ANY CAN wires on ANY of the 6 x CAN buses and it has absolutely no messaging capacity as a LIN slave to the MIB !!
BUT - if it works, I guess that's all that's needed!!

The open/closed green wire circuit essentially does nothing more than switch the video output from RGB to CVBS, if I'm not mistaken..

Can you please advise where the red cable plugs into the head unit - I read its the reverse switch to tell the unit the camera is present but can’t find anywhere that gives any explanation of which connector.
Thanks

gavb : hi. The red wire is the +12V wire This is the wiring set-up for the OEM low-line camera:
As you can see, on the OEM arrangement - the power-supply to the camera is wired back to fuse SC18 (which is the fuse-block under the left side of the steering wheel)
On non-OEM low-line cameras, the +12V wire is connected to the power-supply for the "head unit" (let's call this the MIB). This is a thick-red wire on the "J" connector - which is pin #18 as shown below (the "Terminal 30" pin):
