Hi, I'm tiring to update the infotainment MIB2 STD firmware from MST2_EU_VW_ZR_P0245T to MST2_EU_VW_ZR_P0254T (tried also different versions) but after the update starts and the unit reboots, it returns in the main menu instead starting the updates. Is there any setting in the 5f module which have to be corrected or any other idea? Currently there are no error codes available for the car.
Reason is that my FW was probably wrongly updated or manipulated in the past (I'm 3rd owner) so now all stings can be changed but after restart will appear again the settings of the previous owner. Have already fixed successfully the B201A fault. Tried also to start the update using the SWDL option ...

Correct sdcard? (Size, allocation, format), only card in unit?
Look in the update history see what’s been done

yes, I have used the required SD card formatting with 3 different cards and USB, followed the The only FW version in the history is the one from the description and was updated with the same one, however the date for the update is 2013 but the care was produced Dec 2015, in addition the 5F module had the B201A error which I could fix, so for sure there was a custom update at some point I guess that after the restart the unit would not boot from the SD card I hope that there is a long coding adjustment to change that but could be also a HW issue

Have you tried to reset the 5F unit manually? You press the ON/OFF button for about 10 seconds, when you hear the noise "ploff..." you release it, the unit will restart. (Infotainment on before pressing)

yes, I have tried this several times, actually this happens after the FW update starts and normally would continue with the update screen, after manual hard reset the unit boots and loads the settings from the previous owner in BT, Phone, Radio and most of the rest menus but for example if I change the time settings they will retain. One thing that is for sure not fine is on the picture below:

These things happen with computers that have been hacked to remove Component Protection.
The hacker who acted on that computer is the only one who can tell you how to solve the problem, since only he knows what he did.
If everything works for you, I wouldn't worry, it was even reckless that you tried to update the firmware since that equipment could have been K.O. in doing so.

thanks a lot for the advice, than the only option is to replace the system with aftermarket one ...

to share the result, in case someone else should have the same problem - left the device in a service the result is damaged emmc, the CP was not removed and it's the original device linked to the car, someone has damaged it in the past but it can be repaired

Most likely, when updating the firmware, you eliminated the Component Protection (C.P.) that had been hacked so that that infotainment unit would work in a different vehicle than the one that was installed at the factory and configured in the costing of components.
The repair consists of a new hack of the unit to remove the C.P..
Another (legal) solution would be to deregister it in the original vehicle and register it in your vehicle, but this can only be done through ODIS in an official VW service, entering the Volkswagen FAZIT database; this is something impractical since the official VW services never want to do it due to legal problems.
