Added a third brake light flasher, works as designed. Problem is, my dash says "Check Third Brake Light" and a bulb out icon in the dash.
Is there a way to code this out like in the mk7 in Central Electronics??

My suggestion below is a bit of a guess - so I provide it more as something that you might want to try, rather than it being a known solution to your question!
I'm not sure if you are aware, but the rear lamps on the earlier mk7 Golf (which had a MQB build platform) and on the mk8 Golf (which has a MQB-evo build platform) both use "Leuchte-sets" to manage some of the exterior lamps.
Without getting into the arcane details of Leuchte-programming, basically each exterior light on the rear of these vehicles has its own individual "Leuchte-set" - which I define as being a bunch of adaptation channels in the central electrics module that start with the German term "Leuchte" (which in English means "Lamp").
The particular Leuchte-set that controls the 3rd Brake light on a mk8 Golf is: OK- hopefully you are still following my words. ALL Leuchte-sets obey a strict protocol and they ALL have the same structure which starts by defining the set-up arrangement for the lamp. In particular, the set-up channels tell the central electrics module what type of lamp is plugged into lamp-holder (i.e. incandescent, or LED) and what lighting function is performed. And more importantly for your question, the set-up channels also define the memory locations for the lamp's self-diagnostic facility.
The self-diagnostic channels for the 3rd Brake light on a mk8 Golf are:
- Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 22 > 2C
- Lampendefektbitposition 22 > 29
Note: I've shown the factory settings above
So, if you are still following - my suggestion is to try changing the factory values for the 2 x channels above to zero (the entry probably needs 2 x digits - so 00). I've personally succeeded in turning-OFF the lamp diagnostic facility on individual lamps for early MQB build cars using this method - but I have no idea if this tweak works on MQB-evo vehicles.
As I say - this is purely an experimental suggestion. If it doesn't work, simply revert the changes to their original values
