I purchased my ‘23 GTI inJanuary and the glove box light has never worked. The bulb isn’t the problem (confirmed by dealer). Is there a setting where this may need to be toggled on? My searches haven’t turned up anything, so I’m hoping someone here can help. Thanks!

Is there a fuse?

If there is I’m not sure which one it is. I see an interior light fuse, but all my interior lights work.

Have you tested the voltage at the connector? It's a led that's mounted to the top outside of the glovebox. It uses a switch to detect if the glovebox is open

Yes - I just tried with a tester and there doesn’t seem to be any current going to the connector that plugs into the light assembly. Not sure where to go from here as I was hoping not to have to tear into the dash to get it working.

Have you checked at the connector for the switch? The light itself won't have power if the circuit is open. I'm 90% sure that the switch is powered all the time

I haven’t, but will try that tomorrow and report back. Thanks for the insight.

Eureka! This was the issue - the connector was not plugged in from the factory. Once I dropped the glove box, I could see that the wire was not attached and then fished around behind the panel and found the wire. It now works and I am no longer annoyed every time I open it at night.
Thank you so much!

Annoying they didn't test it. I found one issue in my car, the foam block that is behind the 12v socket in the trunk wasn't setup properly. I didn't know about it at first but whenever I used that socket it would move with the trunk liner, like push in and out. Just thought it was that way. Later during an installation of a powered hatch I must have pushed it back in place, now the 12v socket doesn't push in
