I have a 2016 Golf GTD , when pressing the unlock button the car works as it should- it unlocks. When pressing the lock function , nothing happens. The car itself will not lock itself. The lock does however seem to work when inside and manually pressing the unlock/lock button on the door handle. I have also taken the door handle off from the outside to twist the key to lock the car, the lights flash but it automatically unlocks again as soon as I take it out. The car is keyless (start/stop). Anybody have any suggestions as the car is pretty much always unlocked & I have to put the power folding mirrors down to make it look like it’s locked. Any help to get the locks working when pressed from the fob? & also to add when I hold the unlock button the windows & panroof open and when I hold the lock button , everything closes too.

Of course the car won't lock if there is a door that is badly latched (same with the boot). This situation isn't always obvious - but this would show on the dashboard as an open door.

What does the SCAN report say about this car? If the answer is that there are no errors, then maybe look at History and see if any related coding changes are recorded

Nothing shows up on the dash relating to the doors , just as a precaution I’ve also opened each individual door including the boot one by one - on the screen , it shows when each doors been opened that there is an open door and when closed , it’s closed. When scanning , the only codes in relation to the doors are the entry lights (the strips) but it still works. This problem also happened BEFORE ANY coding was done on the car , previous owner did not code the car.

So, you say this is a MY16 Golf - problem is that about mid 2016, VW changed the database in the hex09 module. So I'm not sure which version module is in this car.

Please post-up a copy of the SCAN report for the car so we can see how it's built. If you don't know how to digitize the SCAN, follow the steps below:

Open the OBD11 App (no need to connect to the dongle)
Click on the Garage tag at the bottom of the screen.
Select the car if you have multiple vehicles stored against your account
Scroll-down and select History
follow the visual steps below:

I’d suspect one of the locks is stuck in the unlock position, but it works from the inside 🤷‍♂️ (defo locks it?)
Can’t see that comfort (remote) or kessy (door handle) have both been turned off unless you just got the car and the previous owner did this to hide the problem,
Don’t suppose your spare key is left inside the car is it?

I think moretime you might be right , seems all the car doors when locked from the inside remain closed except the back left (rear passenger). Might have to check if that’s an issue. Spare key has been given to a friend who lives a couple roads away from me so there’s no way that could reach 🤣

I understand your point about the low battery error in the central electrics module - but it's still concerning for the problem that you describe! Assuming that the fob battery is OK - try clearing this error. Also check the following channel in the B7 Start System Interface module:

DeveloperCoding: Passiv Entry Exit (Byte 1)-Impairment Entry / Exit key on low battery > not active

Everything else is as it should be.
