Trying my luck if anyone here could help find a solution for mt AC issue on a golf mk7 1.4 2015. I been getting B10F000 - compressor switch-off by ECM (switch off code: 12) for the longest time. Im aware that ECM usually switch-off the AC compressor if the engine demand is high. Hence, explain the meaning of switch off code: 12. However, for my case, i was just cruising on a stright road with low RPM (1500-1800rpm) and the AC compressor will randomly switch-off. Compressor will resume whenever i let go off the gas. Pedal. I recently replaced my AC compressor and did compressor run in. Sadly, issue still persist. Anybody had experience similar issue and got it fixed?

syafiqfox: Difficult to say without looking at the complete SCAN report (with Freeze frame data activated - so we can see the ancillary fault information) If you are not aware of how to digitize SCAN data - do this: When you receive the Email that you sent to yourself, add the contents into a new post (as an attachment) Don

syafiqfox : hmm......... I had assumed that you would have activated Freeze-frame data (read THIS) - but apparently not!! Alas the report contains no additional information (at least from my reading of the SCAN)
IMO, OBD11's management of Freeze-frame is deficient compared to its competitor device VCDS. In VCDS, the Freeze-frame function is turned-ON as default whereas on OBD11 it's turned-OFF. The VCDS approach is superior!
I've no idea why a user of a diagnostic device would want to turn-OFF this valuable data stream in a SCAN report. It just doesn't make sense that anyone scanning the car for errors would want to hide data related to the environment on the car when a fault occurs - it's sheer lunacy!!
Anyhow- rant over!! Notwithstanding that your SCAN contains no Freeze-frame data, if this information has been recorded- it will be resident in the module's fault memory. So - maybe activate the function in OBD11 and make a fresh SCAN - does the new SCAN contain any additional data that's worth sharing?
As for the intermittent error recorded - there could be many reasons for the cause (intermittent faults are notoriously difficult to diagnose). I suspect that investigating this problem will be one of sequentially eliminating guesses and carefully noting the conditions on the car when the fault re-appears (as you have already done in your first post).
As a starting point for investigation - perhaps consider the operation of the cooling fan? Of course this is a guess - but you can monitor the behavior of the fan in Live Data for the 08 Air conditioning module. Type "fan" into the search box and select the following: - Coolant fan activation, actual value
- Coolant fan activation, specified value
Maybe observe the functioning of these parameters when the intermittent B10F000 fault occurs?
Again, this is a guess - but you have to start somewhere!!

Hi DV52, i re-scan with freeze frame activated and re-edit my previous reply with freeze frame included. Apologize as i didnt know the functions exist.
I tried many methods to get the bottom of this AC intermittent issue. Tried replacing G395, temp and pressure sensor, expansion valve (i think also called orifice valve, replacing compressor. But nothing seems to works.
You mentioned that i should also look into the coolant fan. What are the symptons that the cooling fans is failing?
I did some experiment today. I found that the cooling fan runs when AC is on, and coolant fan stop running as soon as the AC is turned off. During driving, at low speed, the fan is running (fluctuate between 40%-50%, actual value) but at highway the fan will not run or stay at 10%. Are the operation i mentioned above normal?
Im looking to find other possibilities, perhaps bad condenser, cooling coil etc. The frequency of the intermittent issue is gettng more and more and i cant figure out the root cause.

syafiqfox : hmm...... as I have said "intermittent faults are notoriously difficult to diagnose". My suggestion regarding the cooling fan is just a guess. My hypothesis is that if it's NOT operating correctly, the AC system will run inefficiently and therefore it will place greater work requirements on the engine.
I can't comment on the fan ON/OFF percentages in your post because the behavior of the fan varies greatly with region, humidity and temperature. In theory, it is reasonable for the cooling fan to run less often when traveling at higher speed because natural cooling happens through the open vents to outside air. You could try using the re-circulation mode - that way no exterior cooling occurs. With this set-up, it shouldn't matter what speed the car is traveling-at.
The important aspect of the Freeze-frame data for your purpose is Fault Frequency. This metric indicates how many times the same error has been re-registered in fault memory in subsequent ignition cycles.
Also, what are you noticing with the 2 x Live data readings that I suggested?

Dv52- Always looking forward for your reply. Feels like im one step closer solving my problem. Can i check, the recirculation mode you reffering to is the recirc button on the climatronic module/panel or its some adaptation i need to perform. Also, i actually tried the live data you suggested; this was taken when cruising on highway (below 2000rpm). The live reading for coolant fan activation, specific value actually shows "0" (not shown in image below). I included live data of the refrigerant pressure as i also suspect this could also cause the intermittent issue due to low refrigerant pressure (i think).

DV52 - i was browsing thru the adaptation list in the climatronic control unit and chance upon this, "ignore compressor switch-off by ecm";. I select "no switch off"; and it seems to stop the intermittent issue. Afraid that it might cause more harm, i revert back to the original settings. By anychance you might have some knowledge on what this adapation does and will enable the function, "no switch off" can do any malfunction?

First - my bad about the re-circulation suggestion - I confused the blower fan and the coolant (radiator) fan(s)!! Regarding your screenshot and words about low refrigerant pressure - the following information might be of interest
I thieved the first picture from VW's SSP 208 Air Conditioner in the Motor Vehicle which can be downloaded HERE. As you can see from the chart, 7.6 Bar is within the working range albeit it is a tad on the low-side.
I can't recall where I first obtained the lower picture - but it's from my database of AC stuff. 7.6 Bar = 110 PSI!
As for "ignore compressor switch-off by ecm" - I've not played with this adaptation channel in the past. Clearly it does what it says - but changing the factory setting simply deals with the effect-of-the-intermittent-fault, rather than the cause-of-the-intermittent-fault. Given that your objective appears to be the latter - cloaking the error message via this adaptation channel seems to be entirely antithetical to your efforts (IMO, of course)!!

DV52 - sorry for the late response and appreciate the useful information you pulled out for my diagnostics. Was doing some research regardig this issue and chance upon another forum (discussion about passat's enthusiat). I read a post from a guy that had similar symptons and issue as me. Link below; www.passatworld.com/threads/intermittent-ac.582357/If you were to browse the forum till the last post, he shared that he had closure with his issues. Turn out the fan MODULE was faulty and replacing the fan (althought the fan was working fine) solve his issue. Apparently, his module sending the incorrect signal and the car turning off the compressor as a protection feature. Now im contemplating whether to change the fan as this replacement may be costly and will guarantee the fix. Is there a way to monitor the operation of a faulty fan module?

hmm..... the Radiator fan module (J293) does not directly participate on the CAN network - it's a LIN device that is a slave control unit to the ECU. So, I don't believe that it's possible to directly monitor the functioning of J293 - the diagnostic bus only reports errors in the module (which I assume has not happened on this car). There are radiator fan measurements in Live data in the engine module - but these are outputs from the coolant system peripherals Again. intermittent faults like this are tricky to trace. It really depends on what version J293 is installed on this car - it varies greatly as the module is available in various designs (sometimes fitted to the radiator fan). Don

I was chasing B10F000 - compressor switch-off by ECM all summer. Got compressor shutdown as fast as I was not engine breaking. In my case it was the vacuum sensor in brake system which gave a weak vacuum value. Have you checked yours?

Tommi - Thanks for sharing the info. Apparently, i have not yet check the sensor. And the problem you facing is kind of similar (i hope). Im willing to try anything to solve this issue.
by the way, did you replace the sensor and resolve the issue? If yes, can share some details on where i can find this sensor in the engine bay, and also the part number. Please
Thanks in advance

Replacing the faulty sensor solved my problem. Follow the black pipe from the brake booster and you should find the sensor. The piping is a bit different depending of engine type. You can monitor the vacuum value with live data in control module 03 brakes.

Hi Tommi - Thanks to you, i finally got my issue sorted out (like almost two years!). The brake booster vacuum sensor that you shared being defective help me uncover the issue.
After I replaced the sensors, issue still persist. However, this gave a potential hint that the vacuum hose has sign of vacuum leak(Since new sensors and old sensor shows same reading in live data)
Turn out the connection joint (like a socket/spigot) hose right after the non-return valve, where the sensor mounted was not seated properly. Thus, the leak! Tuck them back(prior to cleaning the connection joint) with some finger power solve my issue completely. Its been two days and fault has not resurfaced, which i can confirm issue was fix!

Great! Two years without A/C must have been a pain. I suffered alot during the four months I spent finding my fault. It is truly interesting that brake vacuum affects A/C. Enjoy the coolness!
