I noticed this behaviour on my Golf Mk8 GTE.
Ac unit is off
I turn on max defrost and after turning it off, the ac unit stays on.
Anyone knows how to code this so that the state of the ac unit remains when cycling max defrost?

Isn't this annoying? Bascially it doesn't return to the original off state if you enable max defrost then disable it.

I haven't seen anything but I remember when resetting something there was some sort of default climate control settings, like 72, AC on, recirculation off. I wonder if there's some default and that's what it's going to? Maybe this is profile related but I still haven't figured out profiles work.

What HVAC version do you have? Maybe we can find someone with a 2023 model to check if it's been fixed

yes but we need someone with a 2023 to see if that happens, then we need to see their software. I was at my VW dealer and asked about firmware upgrades, they don't do them
