Hey Guys New Here But Not New To Vw/Audi About A Month Ago I Bought My 2017 Alltrack SE DSG 4Motion And Im Getting Tired Of Being Flashed Every Morning .
The Previous Owner Somehow Coded and I Cant Figure This Dumb Shit Out (Because 1 I Dont Speak Or Read German And 2 WHY Hasnt Vagcom Or OBD11 Translated This Stuff By Now ...Its Only Been Like A Decade Since Mk6s Hit The Market) Anyways ... The Low Beams Are On All The Time , With The Inner Bulbs (What Im Calling Flash To Pass Like On A MK5) And Fog Lights On When The Switch Is In Any Of The Following Positions ( Auto , Or Headlights On ) When The Switch Is In Marker Lights I Have The FTP Lights And Foglights On . When High Beams Are Activated The Low Beams Are On The FTP Lights Are On A Second Brightness Comes From The Highbeam/FTP Light Area And Foglights Go Off .
Went To My Local Dealer Yesterday To Get Some New Sparkplugs For Her , They Have A 18 Alltrack There With Halogens Like Mine And My Buddy (Salesmanager There) Got The Keys To It And Cycled Thru The Headlight Positions For Me To Compare And It Worked As U Would Expect For Normal ( Low Beams Only , Lowbeams And Fogs , High Beams Only When Stalk Pulled Back Or Flicked Fwd ) . Would Be Amazing If Any Of You Can Save me A Dealer Trip To Have My Light Module Recoded And Get This Thing Back To Original Operation .
If This Is Any Way Confusing, I Can Get A Video Of It This Afternoon When I Get Off Work

First a short response about your rant that VCDS and OBD11 has failed to "Anglicize" the German stuff. With an acknowledgement that I've got absolutely no connection to the administration of either company and with no offense intended, I suggest that your expectations might be a tad too high!
Yes, you can find different language versions for both diagnostic devices (for the underlying operating systems) - but in essence, they report whatever information is contained within the various modules. Depending on the Part-Number of the module, the language used for this data varies - English, or German and in some modules a mix of both. Again, with my caveat that I'm not involved with either Ross-Tech, or VOLTAS - my hunch is that both companies are flat-out trying to keep abreast of their primary task - which is to ensure that their devices remain compatible with the continuous stream of new modules!! OK - so lets look at your problem with what you call the "FTP" lights. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that you might be referring to the DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). These are the 2 x inner lamps on the headlights below: If I'm correct, then the issue might be (I suspect) that the previous owner has coded these lamps to operate in Parking-Light (PL) mode (maybe you call this "position light" mode). The problem with making this change is that the inner lamps do NOT have reflectors with cut-off characteristics - as do the low-beam lamps. In daylight, it's perfectly OK to fully illuminate the DRLs - but in nighttime conditions, the have the effect of blinding on-coming vehicles (as you say).
There are a number of ways to deal with this problem and they ALL rely on what I call "Leuchte-programming" (in recognition of your opening words - "Leuchte"="Lamp"). However, before I provide a suggestion, I need to see how the previous owner programmed the group of adaptation channels that control the DRLs on this car. These channel-groups are collected together in the central electrics module under a "Parent" name that starts with the word "Leuchte". I call these channel groups a "Leuchte-set" and your Alltrack will have 35 x Leuchte-sets in total. Each of these Leuchte-sets will have 19 x adaptation channels. So, I need to see screenshots for the Leuchte-set for the DRL on one side of the car - to do this, do the following (please): - Fire-up OBD11 software and connect to the dongle (which is plugged-into the car's OBD port)
- follow the steps below:
- Click on Leuchte4TFL LB4 in the list on the last screenshot (it's the 5th Leuchte-set) -if you can't see this Leuchte-set, enter "LB4" in the search box and select Leuchte4TFL LB4
- Take screenshots of ALL 19 x adaptation channels (you will probably need 3 x screenshots) and post the pictures on another post here
- To deal with the low-beam & fog-light matters - repeat step 3 and step 4 for Leuchte6ABL LC5 (this is the Leuchte-set for the left-side, low-beam lamp) and Leuchte12NL LB45 (left-side, fog-light)
Don PS: Would you prefer to totally disable the DRLs in PL mode, or would you rather have the illumination of these lights dimmed to a level so that they don't blind on-coming vehicles?

Maybe try another third-party image hosting site (one that doesn't require that I have an account)? Don

immoist : Arrhhh........... that's much more better-er!!! Thanks OK - first let's talk about the differences between the headlights on your Alltrack and on a "MK5" (which you reference in your first post and which I assume is a Golf mk5). Here's a pic of the Alltrack headlights - thieved from the web
Lamp #1 is the low-beam light and at least in function and position, it's the same as a mk5 (albeit, there will be technical difference, I suspect)
However, lamp #2 is very different between the 2 x models. On an Alltrack, lamp #2 has an ECE category "H15" - like this:
Notice that the lamp has 3 x terminals on its base. This is because the lamp has 2 x filaments; a 15 Watt filament and a 55 Watt filament.
This means that the inner lights on an Alltrack operate 2 x separate lighting functions as factory programmed - like this: - The 55 Watt filament is used for the high-beam function and what you call "flash-to-pass" function (depending on whether the dashboard stalk is either pulled-towards, or pushed-away-from the driver).
- The 15 Watt filament is factory programmed as both:
- Side Lights - meaning that the inner lamps illuminate with the low-beams, or when the rotary light switch is in the position. In Side Light mode and because the reflectors in these inner fittings don't have cut-off characteristics, the lamps are dimmed so that on-coming drivers are not blinded at night
- Daylight Running Lights (DRLs) - meaning that the inner lamps illuminate fully during daylight conditions
Based on your words in the first post - I suspect that the Golf mk5 only had the high-beam filament in the equivalent position lamp. For the inner-lights: given your replies to my previous question - I'm assuming that: - you want the lamps to operate in high-beam and "FTP" mode, BUT
- you don't want the lamps to operate in DRL mode (during daylight conditions), AND
- you don't want the lamps to operate with low-beam, BUT
- you want the lamps to illuminate when the rotary light switch is in the position
If my assumptions above are correct, do this: Leuchte4TFL LB4 (left-side inner-lamp) & Leuchte5 TFL RB32 (right-side inner lamp)
- Lichtfunktion A > Standlicht vorn (Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht) [nicht aktiv]
- Lichtfunktion C > nicht aktiv [Blinken links/rechts aktiv (beide Phasen)]
- Dimming Direction CD > maximize [minimize]
- Lichtfunktion E > nicht aktiv [Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht)]
- Dimmwert EF > 0 [31]
Note: the square-bracketed values above should be your existing settings
For the fog-lights - as your Leuchte-sets are currently programmed, these lamps operate in fog-light mode and they also operate in cornering-light mode.
Cornering-light mode is dependent on the low-beams operating, but it is NOT the same as Side-light mode. As the name sugThe gests, cornering-lights ONLY illuminate when the turn-signals operate, or when the steering wheel angle is above a threshold value AND the car's speed must be below a threshold value. AND, only one lamp illuminates - the lamp on the car-side that the car is turning.
This lighting function dynamic is a tad different to the words in your first post. Nevertheless, if you want the fog-lights to ONLY operate when the center turret of the rotary light switch is pulled-out (i.e. delete cornering-light mode), do this: Leuchte12NL LB45 (left-side fog-light) & Leuchte13NL RB5 (right-side fog-light) - Lichtfunktion B > nicht aktiv (Abbiegelicht links/rechts)
For the low-beam lights: the Leuchte-set that you posted for the low-beam lamp (Leuchte6ABL LC5) is factory standard. There's nothing in the settings that would cause the low-beam to illuminate during daylight (i.e. with the rotary light switch in either the "0", or AUTO position).
If indeed "The Low Beams Are On All The Time", then the cause must be within a non-Leuchte channel. To find this channel, I will need to see a back-up of the central electric module.

Yeah On A Mk5 Gti/Gli/R Like My Old Car The High/Low Beam Is A Bi Xenon And Was The Outside Bulb , The FTP Light Was On The Inside Bulb & U Can Turn Those On To Run With Ur High Beams & Its Glorious -The Inner Light Assessment You Gave Is Right & Ill Try That This Afternoon When I Get Off Work -The Foglights I Have No Issue With How They Currently Operate And Will Pass All Inspection Requirements (Has To Be Off When High Beams Are On And They Are Currently Set That Way) -And For The Low Beams Setting Ill Get You That Central Electric Setting This Afternoon Too When I Recode The Other Light Settings Because They Definitely Never Turn Off Except When In The Marker Lights Only Selection On The Headlight Switch .

So just did the recoding and everything sofar looks right except 2 things .
-headlight switch in auto no headlights on until I pull out on the switch to activate the foglights . - low beams are still active with high beams which isn't the end of the world since the main concern of the bright inner light always on is fixed .
As soon as I can figure out how to load that central elect log I will

What did you want to happen? So just did the recoding and everything sofar looks right except 2 things . - low beams are still active with high beams which isn't the end of the world since the main concern of the bright inner light always on is fixed . Again, hmm........ is the channel Außenlicht_uebergreifend-Fernlicht_LH set to Keine_Spannungsanforderung on the hex09 module?
